Lyras POV

"It's too bad Connor and them had to leave." I say shoving more food into my face hole.

"Wow thanks." Trevor laughs.

"Hey! Lose the tude! I wasn't finished," he rolled his eyes, "but it's still a party with Trevor, Justin, Richard, Samuel, Tyler, and my mother."

They all swat at me for using their real names, "oh really Lyran." Sam laughs.

"You still remember that!" I said looking at his rosy cheeks.

"Well yeah! My mom still hates you though," he cocked his head.

"Hate is such a strong word." Trevor teased.

"Say she dislikes her with a passion." Ricky laughs.

"You guys and your jokes," my mother glared trying not to smile.

"Oh ease up we're just having a little laugh." Jc choked on his drink causing all of us to laugh including my mother.

We all finished eating and caught me up on what happened. I wondered why I smelled like whip cream and my hair was a little off. I love these people but I have a feeling this isn't right. No that I'm dating my best frend I'm getting a vibe from my inner-self. I'll just have to see what I get into. I forgot I had school tomorrow and classes are not going to treat me well. I'm glad I have all this month of homework done, I've learned the lesson myself and have finished all the work. I have a meeting with my teachers on Wednesdays after school and whenever at lunch just in case I have questions on later assignments. I also have work this week like always, Tuesdays and Thursdays. It's hard to get a paid internship in high school but anyone knows me, knows it wasn't actually that hard.

"Well that was delightful." Tyler says fixing his hair.

"I know right." I mock him and flip then smooth my hair.

"You're such a dork." He laughs.

"Lyra?" My mother asked.

"Mother." I reply while Sam grabbed my hand.

"Would you like to go shopping a little bit today? I mean you could use some new clothes and the boys brought you here." She pointed out, "plus we could use some mother daughter time, and don't worry I'll pay."

She smiled, this means it would make her week or something.

I looked up at Sam and he gave me a small nod then back at my mother, "I'd love too."

"Great I'll meet you in the car, it's getting a little chilly and you guys are waking really slow." She said and sped up her pace.

I said good-bye to the boys and gave them small half hugs. Sam was still standing next to me our fingers laced up. He didn't say a word, didn't unlock our fingers, just moved his face to mine and let me enjoy the moment. We both were enjoying it until my mom started to honk and be obnoxious.

"I'll see you Friday." I say giving him one last peck.

"Can't wait." He sid unlacing our hands.

When I got in the car my mother had the biggest smile on her face.

"What?" I say clicking my seat belt.

"You like him." She sounded like a 5th grader when her best friend states she "likes" someone.

"Oh my goodness mother are you 10?" I joke.

"Your 28 years off." She replied.

"Just drive."

"Whatever girlfriend." Now she sounded like an obnoxious 14 year old girl.

After two hours of shopping we were dying of laughter, had too many bags, and were way too tired for our ages, well my age. We continued on, stopping only a little after our arms were about to break to put stuff in the car, but we still went on. As we were walking around one of the stores I picked out some new work dresses and went to try them on.

My mother picked out a dress and showed it to me, "that's a party dress."

"Exactly," I was surprised, "you need to go out, explore life, party, stay away from drugs and alcohol, and have some safe fun." She winked near the end.

"Mom!" I hit her lightly and she laughed. This was the first time she hasn't scolded me for calling her something after than 'mother'.

"I'm glad we're bonding." She said as we looked through some fancy yet flashy dresses.

"I am too." I say giving her a small hug.

"Now get you small butt in there and try on those dresses." We walked into the biggest changing room they had and I began changing.

I loved each dress more than the next. I trailed off thought about what we were talking about earlier, you like him, do I? I like him because I remember him, I know him, I, I, I love him.

"Mom?" I interrupted my own train of thought.

"Yes sweet heart." She zipped up one of the dresses.

"Since we have been having little heart to heart conversations here and there can I ask you something?" I sat down.

She gathered a worried expression on her face, "of course Lyra, anything."

I got up, looked in the mirror, smoothed out my dress, tucked my hair behind my ear and began, "would you treat or love me differently if I preferred girls?"

She almost looked shocked, she laughed a small bit, "of course not! I wouldn't love you or treat you any less if you preferred trees!" This made me smile and giggle.

"Why do you think you like girls?" She said making me look up.

"No, I was just thinking what it would be like if I did." I tried the next dress on.

"Sweet heart if you think I wouldn't approve you're wrong. I know I'm very classic and do things the older way and go with the way things are supposed to be originally but it isn't my decision who you like in the bedroom or holding your hand. I's whoever you love and want o built a strong relationship with and even start a family with. It could be a Ricky, Sam, Trevor,  Connors friend Lylia, my neighbors daughter Lilian, it could be a pillow and I would still love you!" She explains and I feel a tear go down my face.

"Are you serious?" I sniff.

"205% serious."

"I love you mommy!" I gave her the biggest hug I had and then we continued shopping for a few more hours then she dropped me off at my home.

When I got inside Trevor, I believe his name was, had cleaned up the house and is alseep on the couch with the tv on. I turn it off and cover him up with a blanket that was drapped over the chair and I took a shower then after I was clean soaked in a hot bath. I gathered my things for school and feel asleep alomst instantly. School went slow and I had several eyes on me but I didn't care all I could think about was what my mom said and tried to figure out why I said what I did. This week went quite slow but I made it through and when I got home Friday there was Trevor all dressed up wearing fancy jeans, a button up and a bow tie. I almost forgot about my date with Sam.

"Date?" I ask grabbing an apple.

"Yeah. What are your plans?" He striaghtened his bow tie.

"I too have a date." He rolled his eyes.

"Well don't have too much fun," he laughed and I rolled my eyes, "I have to go before I'm late."

"You're never late." I say surprised I remember what he said the first day we met.

"Yeah I'm never late." He half smiled.

"Bye!" I yell.

"See ya!" He closed the door and I locked it.

"Now what to wear?" I thought out loud.
