After our hug my mother spoke, "I told Trevor to pick you up here and he was okay with it."
"Great!" I say looking at myself again.
My mother sighed, "Lyra, you really are beautiful. I'm just sad I can't say you got it from me."
"What do you mean?" I sat next to her.
She shook her hand and almost started to cry, "Lyra you're adopted. You're birth mother died when she had you and you're father died two weeks later at war. Jack and I adopted up because I had a miscarriage and that was the last child I could have."
I patted her back, "I'm not upset. Being adopted doesn't mean I'm unwanted it means I'm special enough for having someone else wanting me."
She brought me into another hug and I didn't deny. I heard a knock on the door but ignored it. I wanted this moment to last. She pulled back and looked me in the eye.
"Now go on your date and have the best time you can!" She took one more look at me.
I took a deep breath and opened the door, "h-h-i-i." Crap I'm stuttering.
"You look," he paused, "gorgeous."
He looked amazing. He had his hair flicked over to the side, wearing a tux and holding a rose.
"You look amazing." I was breathing deeply.
He had me the rose and we interlocked fingers. I turned and smiled at my mother then got in the car.
"Where are we going?" I ask buckling my seat belt.
He looked over and smiled, "you'll find out soon."
He turned the radio on and we sung along. We screamed the lyrics with the windows crack, not wanting to mess up my hair, and got so many weird looks. He made me cover my eyes as we pulled in.
"Trevor! You did not!" I hit his arm as I see we're at the most expensive resturant in town.
He laughed and shut his door. He ran around and opened mine. When I got out I gave him a little curtsy and we laugh.
"Name?" The young hostess asked.
He looked at me, "Moran."
She sat us down and everything was CRAZY expensive. I looked at him like he had drawings all over his face.
"Get anything. Price doesn't catch up to your beauty." I began to blush.
We ordered and didn't really talk. We stared at each other and smiled. He grabbed my hand and I let him hold it. When the food came out we began to make small talk and laugh at the way we ate. We tried acting proper but we failed epicly. He laughed and looked down.
"What?" I giggle.
He shook his head, "its just you look adorable when you're eating."
"I don't think I have that much beauty." I laugh and eat a fork twirled with pasta.
"Lyra, you have enough beauty to fill my world. Your eyes makes me melt, your smile gives me butterflies, when you laugh I feel like I can do anything. With the year I have been with you I feel so carefree. So out of the world. You take me out of reality and bring me to a world that only exists when you're by my side. When you cry I break and when that monster takes over I die inside. I can't see you in pain and I don't want you to leave my side. Lyra Jones I think I love you." He stands and people around the restaurant Awe.
"I'm speechless Trevor Moran. All I can say is come here." I get up and pull him close.
I can feel his ghost trying to take the best of him as I put my lips and his but he fights it. I don't move just stand there ignoring all the eyes on us.
I pull away, "I think that explains it."
"I need to say something. Well sing something." He grabs everyone's attention and begins to sing Next To You by Chris Brown.
I wanted to cry. I didn't and I just let him sing and let everyone stare. Tonight was a night I didn't want to forget. I wanted to sing with him but I knew he did all this for me. He stood up straight and took my hand and twirled me around.
"Lyra, whatever happens I'll be there." He put a gold locket around me neck and inside was a picture of him and I when we went to my cousins wedding.
"Trevor I-"
He puts a finger to my lips, "Shh."
Everyone clapped and Awed again. We sat back down and got dessert. We ate with grins ear to ear and a giggle every now and again.
"We're going some place very special." He grabs my hand and says in a low tone as we walk out to the car.
I giggle out my nose, "okay. But no more money spending."
He raised his hands like he was surrendering and opened my door and motioned in, "my lady."
"Why thank you." I curtsy again.
We both laugh and we drive for about ten minutes. We pulled up into a park area and he wouldn't let me speak. He held my hand as we walked down the trail and covered them as we got to a bridge. He guided me as what seemed to be crossing it.
"Toda." I open my eyes to see the most beautiful sight there is too see.
There's fireflies glowing, fish rippling the water below, a soft spring breeze, the moon shinning on the water. It's amazing! I've seen nothing like it.
"Trevor, this is," I stutter a little, "amazing."
He turned me towards him, "I used to think this was the prettiest sight I've ever seen but then I met you."
"Stop that!" I playfully swat at him making him laugh too.
We danced on the old bridge and lived like we were five. Catching fireflies, counting stars, singing a little, everything was grand until I felt shaking and someone was saying my name, it was very faint, like someone was calling through the distance.
