Watch Out For Falling Pigs (And/Or Dogs)

As per usual, it was nearing 3 in the morning. With the case finally done, the bullpen was empty but for Ziva and I. We lay on our backs looking up at the snow falling from the sky through a skylight. Silence enveloped us for a while, as each of us worked through and eventually let go of this case. After a while, Ziva broke the silence.

"Do you believe in soulmates Tony?" Ziva asked, her accent thicker as she was tired.

"I didn't used to" I said honestly.

"And now?" She asked, turning to face me.

"Yah. I'm pretty sure I do" I smiled at her and she returned it.

A blanket of silence covered us once again until I finally ushered the courage to ask in the most discreet way possible, "What about you Ms. David? Does the Mossad hunting dog believe in soulmates?"

"Do dogs fly?" Ziva smirked.

"Pigs"I corrected and shook my head.

"What?" Ziva said, confused.

"The expression is when pigs fly, it means rarely" I explained and sighed. This was not the way I had seen this conversation going.

"Oh well, then yes. If pigs are flying." Ziva replied and smiled at me.

"Well I have another question for you Ziva" I flirted.

"Hit" She stated, nonchalantly.

"Shoot" I corrected again.

"Do you mean shit Tony?" She scoffed.

"Speaking to you gives me physical pain" I groaned and chuckled.

"I can say the same of you mon petits pois" Ziva responded, "What was your question?"

"My question Ziva, is do you see any pigs in the air" I asked.

"I'd watch out if I was you" Ziva smiled and said almost instantly .

"What?" I shook my head.

"You never know when one of those flying pigs is just going to fall" She said and placed a quick peck on my cheek before getting up to leave.

"Thats not how any of this works" I called after her.

"Im pretty sure its working" She yelled as the elevator doors shut.
