Melissa’s POV
I wasn’t scared at all. Well, I guess I was, but I didn’t pay attention to the fact that I was falling at a very rapid pace. Strangely, I was paying attention to Liam. He looks scared, but you can tell he’s having fun. If you look in his eyes you can tell he’s scared, but he has a huge smile on his face. I’m surprised he hasn’t noticed me staring at him. Like, we were strapped in facing the same way, so he should be able to tell that I’m looking at him.
A few seconds later, Liam pulls the cord to open the parachute. And a couple of minutes after that we’re on the ground.
“Oh my god, even though I was freaking freezing, I had so much fun!” I yell as Dave unstraps us.
“I’m glad you had fun.” Liam smiles at me.
“Did you two have fun?” I ask Liam and Niall.
“I had fun, but it was a little uncomfortable because someone kept moving around.” Liam says, being slightly vague. Oh crap. He saw me staring at him.
“What about you, Niall? Did you have fun?” I ask quickly, before anyone can question Liam.
“It was awesome. I wasn’t scared at all.” Niall answers.
Dave chuckles and says, “Yeah right. You were screaming the entire time.”
“Okay, so I was terrified. But I did have fun.” Niall admits.
“Would you do it again?” I question, already knowing his answer.
“No way, dude! I’ve done enough falling to last me a life time!” Niall’s quick to answer.
After that we walk to the shack to finish taking off all of our gear. Once we’re done with that we get into the car and head off to our next destination. I’m hoping that lunch is our next stop, ‘cause I’m hungry.
“Melissa, wake up.” Liam says, shaking me. I must’ve fallen asleep.
“I don’t wanna get up.” I whine, cuddling into the seat.
“If you don’t get up we’re going to eat lunch without you.” Niall says, making me quickly get out of the car.
“Someone must be hungry.” Niall chuckles. Then the three of us walk into the restaurant.
When we get inside you can immediately tell that this is a mom and pop place. But I don’t mind; it feels cozy. “How many?” The hostess asks.
“Just the three of us.” Liam answers. The hostess then leads us to a booth near the back of the restaurant.
“Your waiter will be right with you.” She says after she hands us our menus, then leaves.
I start flipping through the menu and ask, “What are you guys going to get?”
“I’ll probably get a burger and chips.” Liam says, focusing very hard on the menu in front of him.
“Why would you get chips when you could get fries?” I ask, wondering if he’s on some sort of health kick.
“Chips and fries are the same thing, Mel. I thought you would know that by now.” Niall tells me.
“Oh. Sometimes I just go back to my American ways, I guess.” I shrug.
“Strange one you are.” Niall laughs.
Before I can protest our waiter comes to our table. “Hello, my name is Josh and I’ll be your server this afternoon. Can I start you off with something to drink or an appetizer?” Our waiter, Josh, asks us.
“I’ll have a coke.” Liam says, and Josh writes it down on his pad of paper.
“Do you have lemonade?” Niall asks.
“Yes, sir, we have regular lemonade, strawberry lemonade and kiwi lemonade.” Josh answers, being very polite.
“I’ll have the strawberry lemonade, please.” Niall orders.
“What would you like, darling?” Josh asks me, looking at me strangely.
“Um, I’ll have a diet coke, an order of mozzarella sticks and an order of loaded fries- I mean chips.” I order. Both Niall and Liam look at me like I’m nuts. “I’m obviously going to share.”
Josh chuckles then says, “I’ll be right back with your drinks, your appetizers should be ready in a little bit.” Once Josh walks away Niall starts busting up laughing.
“What in the world is wrong with you?” I question, hoping he hasn’t gone insane. Okay, so he’s already insane, but you get what I mean.
Liam looks at me and says, “Did you not see the way that guy was looking at you?” I shake my head no. “He was looking at you like you’re fresh meat. It was disgusting.”
“I thought it was hilarious.” Niall says, finally stopping his laughing.
“Why would he look at me like that?” I ask, not believing Liam.
“You know, you aren’t ugly, Mel. You’re actually quite fit.” Niall informs me, making me blush.
“Uh, thanks?” I say, unsure how to react.
“You’re very welcome.” Niall laughs at me.
Our lunch basically goes like our first few minutes in the restaurant. Josh tried flirting with me, Niall would bust up laughing, Liam had what seemed like a permanent scowl and I sat there eating my food, blocking everyone out.
“That guy was disgusting.” Liam scowls as we walk out of the restaurant.
“He was hilarious.” Niall says.
“The food there was delicious. I think I like the loaded chips and the hot fudge sundae the most.” I say, purposely ignoring what the other two said.
“Really? That guy was being a pig and all you have to say is how good the food was?” Liam asks in disbelief, getting into the car, Niall and I following suit.
“I didn’t mind him flirting with me, Liam. It’s nice to have that kind of attention for once, and besides, the food was really, really good.” I protest.
“You’re unbelievable.” Liam scoffs, then starts driving to our next location. This time I purposely go to sleep.
AN: Yay! 968 words! I haven’t written this much in a while! Although it’s not as many words as some of my other chapters. I don’t remember which chapter, but one of my chapters has over 3000 words! I’m hoping to write longer ones like that one.
Dedicated to @Stylinonem104 ‘cause she’s perfectly awesome and her story ‘Again’ is to die for!!
