Melissa's POV
A week seems like such a long time when you're alone. It seems like months.
I've done almost nothing in a weeks time. When I first arrived at this hotel I quickly found a place that I could dye my hair. Obviously, I dyed my hair. It's a dark-ish blue now, instead of my natural blonde-brown. After that I bought some fake glasses, and those really changed how I look. I really didn't do anything after all of that. I tried looking for a job, but I realized that I'm too young. I really don't know what I'm going to do when I run out of money. I've spent fifteen hundred for two weeks at this hotel, one hundred on groceries and one fifty on my new look. I've only got three hundred left.
My old cell phone ringing cuts off my thoughts.
"Hello?" I answer.
"Mel!" The person on the other side of the line says happily.
"That would be me."
The person laughs and says, "Forgotten my voice already?"
"James?" I gasp.
"The one and only." James says, and even though I can't see him I can tell he's smirking.
"Why are you calling?" I question.
"Why am I calling? Why weren't you answering your other phone? Why was Louis the one answering your phone?" James yells. Uh-oh.
"Because I'm finally a normal person." I answer, avoiding the story behind my answer.
"That's very funny, Melly." He laughs. "What's the real reason?"
I take a deep breath then say, "James, I'm normal now. I couldn't answer my other phone."
"So because you're all the sudden normal -which is highly unlikely- you can't answer your current phone?" He asks, not understanding.
"I left, okay?? That's what makes me normal!" I start to explain, yelling, "I left. I'm staying at a hotel. I dyed my hair blue. I got fake glasses. I'm normal now!"
"You what?" James says with so much anger it scares me.
"I left." I squeak.
"I heard what you said." He informs me. "Now care to tell me why you left?"
"I'm not exactly sure. I think it was just all of the stress of the wedding and our parents. Looking back, that's the only logical reason. Oh, crap. I'm starting to regret this now. This was a bad idea, wasn't it? It was. I didn't even think, I just did. Oh no. Oh no." I start to ramble.
"Calm down, Melly. I'm sure we can fix this." James tries to calm me down.
"How? I screwed up! I can't go back and I can't come home!" I yell.
"Speaking of home... You're supposed to be coming home shortly."
"It's been that long?" I question.
"Yep." He says, popping the 'p'.
I sigh and say, "Well, it doesn't matter. I'm not coming home anyways."
"Melissa, you need to either come home or go back to Niall. You don't have another choice. Do you understand me?" He says forcefully.
"You can't expect me to choose either of those, James, can you?" I ask in disbelief.
"I can and I will. And if you choose neither I will tell mom and dad what you've done and after I'll drag your little but home."
"James! How could you? When did you become so much like them?" I gasp.
"Don't you dare compare me to our parents, I am nothing like them and you know it. I'm only looking out for you, Mel." James says, sounding hurt.
"You are everything they are and more, James. I didn't know a month could change someone so much." I mumble.
"Mel..." He pleads.
"You know what? You can have what you want. I'll go back. But when I end up getting married to Niall remember that you're on my list of people to blame." I bark, then hang up on James.
What happened to James while I was gone? Did mom and dad finally get to him?
After crying for what seems like eternity I get up and pack my bags. After packing my bags I go down to the front desk, bags in tow.
"Hello ma'am. How may I help you?" The receptionist asks with a sickly sweet smile.
"I need to check out." I tell her.
"What room?" She asks.
"328." I answer.
"Umm. Ma'am, you do know that you have another week left, right?" The lady says, confused.
"Yes I do. Something came up and I have to leave." I lie.
"Would you like a refund for the other week? I'm sure I can get my manager to give you a refund." She questions.
"Nah, I'm good. It's my fiancé's money anyways." I laugh.
"Alrighty then." The lady says, then starts checking me out. "Have a nice day ma'am."
I smile at the receptionist then walk out of the building. I end up walking for half an hour until I get to a more populated area of the city. There I hail down a cab to take me back to Niall.
When I get in the cab I'm very shocked. The cab driver is the same driver that took me to the hotel.
"It's nice to see you again, ma'am." The driver smiles.
"Likewise." I smile. "It's so nice to see a familiar face again."
"Where would you like to go?" He asks.
I hand the driver a piece of paper with the address to the boys' place and say, "It's a little further than fifty pounds this time."
