Chapter 9

Ruby had been staying with Diamond until she was nursed back to full recovery. Diamond didn't know if she could trust Ruby, but that was her sister and she knew deep in her heart that she had to stay on her side.

"Have you talked to mom and dad?" Diamond cut into her pancakes.

"I haven't talked to them since Thanksgiving."

"Ruby, are you serious?" Diamond asked her in disbelief.

Ruby shrugged and bit into a piece of bacon.

"I don't want them to know about this either Diamond." Ruby gave her a peircing look.

"Why not?" Diamond put her fork down and looked at her sister like she was crazy. 

"I want them to worry. Maybe then they will give a damn about me." Ruby took a sip of her orange juice and left the table. She still had a limp in her walk but it was getting better. Diamond didn't feel like chasing after her. She was exhausted and stressed out.

It had been a week since the incident and Diamond hand't been to work in almost a week in a half. She knew she had her work cut out for her when she got back to the office. She had to start checking emails and responding to them as soon as possible. She didn't want to become too backed up. Along with that, she had not heard from Jason since the day he left the hospital. She found that very strange, but figured he would come to his senses soon. She had been so busy with taking care of Ruby she had neglected Vanessa and Keisha although she didn't mean to. She had to set up a lunch date with them so they could catch up. She also needed to find an assistant to help her out with all this work she had piled up. 

Diamond got in the shower and lotioned herself in her favorite vanilla and sugar lotion. She got dressed in jeans , a navy blue button up shirt and nude steve madden pumps. She sent a text messgae to Vanessa and Keisha and told them to meet them at her office at about 5:00pm so they could order take out and catch up.

Diamond just finished responding her her last set of emails when Vanessa and Keisha called and asked her to buzz them in.

"I feel like I haven't seen you in ages!" Keisha stressed. 

"I know. I'm so sorry. Things have been so crazy! You won't even believe half the shit I've been through these past few weeks! Look at you!" Diamond turned her attention to Vanessa who was starting to show and she was definitley starting to glow.

"You're beautiful! Look at that belly!" Diamond said as she kissed Vanessa on the cheek and rubbed her belly."Have a seat, don't mind the mess." 

"So what's up mama." Vanessa asked her as she took a sip of her milkshake.

"I don't even know where to start." Diamond sighed and sipped her hot chocolate. She started. "Thanksgiving was a mess! Ruby is bisexual and she strips. She had an outburst at dinner which caused everything to shut down. I told my mom about Jason and she wasn't very happy about the fact that he is white. I don't know what the issue is but I'll get to him later. I hired Ruby as my assistant so she could stop stripping. I got her an apartment and everything. I had a stressful day at work and Jason offered to come over, we were chilling. Chinese and red wine, the works. Got a call about 3:00am. Ended up at the club where Ruby strips. Come to find out, she had been brutally date raped. We get to the hospital and guess who happens to be her doctor. Yeah, Calvin. Calvin Marks. My first love."
