Chapter 1
Hey I just met you
And this is crazy
But here's my number
So call me maybe.
I smiled to myself as my favorite song played on my IPod. 'Call me maybe' by Carly Rae Jepsen. God I love that song! I checked what time it was, then rolled over in my bed, snuggling further into my sheets. It was only 6:30, I could sleep in for a little bit. I really wasn't a morning person, but on certain days, there were exceptions. Like today, my first day of high school! I'm so excited! In a sudden rush of anticipation, I practically jumped out of bed, getting my feet tangled up in the sheets in the process. I hit the hardwood floor hard, landing on my right hip. "Ouch..." Groaning silently, I rubbed my sore hip. I winced as my door swung open, almost nailing me in the head. My younger brother, Jack, walked in. "Hey I heard a bang and thought someone fell..." He stopped short, gaping in surprise. Jack took one look at me sprawled on the floor, then to my feet tangled up in the bed sheets, and burst out laughing. "You-are-such-a-klutz!" He managed to say in between bursts of laughter. I glared at him, untangling myself from the sheets and standing up. "Get out!" I yelled at him, pushing him out of my room. I slammed the door, but had to lean against it for a good minute or two before he stopped pushing against it. "Too bad my stupid door doesn't lock..." I muttered to myself when he finally gave up and walked back into his room. Walking over to my closet, I pulled out the outfit that I had carefully chosen the night before. Light blue button down tee (folded up like a wraparound ballet sweater, of course), white tank top underneath that, and skinny jeans with my light blue flip flops. Appearance? Hair down, part on the side, light touch of mascara, smear of lip gloss, light blue painted fingernails and dark blue painted toenails, and voila! Ready to go. I flopped down onto my bed and closed my eyes, enjoying the peace and quiet. Suddenly-BAM! The door slammed open, jolting me out of my 'happy place'. "Kylie!" Jack yelled, bursting into my room. "What do you want?" I asked him. "Mom says to get your ass downstairs otherwise you won't have time for breakfast." He explained. I groaned, then looked at the clock. Holy shit! 7:05! I was going to be late if I didn't get a move on! School started at 7:20! "Thanks lil bro!" I said, darting past him with my things.
Running down the stairs at top speed, I made it into the kitchen in record time. Everything was going great, until BAM! I hit the floor for the second time that morning. And NO, it wasn't because of my shoes... They were flip flops, remember? I guess I just tripped over my own two feet... Not unusual for me, anyways. Laying there for a few seconds, I rolled over onto my back to see my older sister, Stacey, glaring at me, her hands on her hips. "KYLIE AMANDA SUMMERS!" MY mom yelled from the kitchen. 'Yeah, mom?' I called back, wincing in pain as the effect of the fall settled in. "Get in the kitchen immediately otherwise you'll have no time for breakfast!" She said hysterically. "Help me up?" I asked Stacey, who was now smirking. "Uh... How about no?" She said, laughing in my face. "Please?" I begged her, using the puppy dog eyes. She rolled her eyes then replied. "Fine..." She said, grumbling. She reached down to me, and then when she grabbed my hand, I yanked her down. Springing up from the ground, I looked at her body still recovering from the impact. "Ha...sucker." I said, skipping down the hall into the kitchen. I grabbed a pop tart for breakfast. I could eat it on the way to school. I took my lunch bag off the counter, and then headed to the front door with my bag, lunch and pop tart in hand. Walking down the hall with all of my things, I was nearly thrown onto the floor, slamming into the wall at the same time. "What the hell, Stacey?!" I groaned. Okay, I should have seen that coming... She just glared at me. "Payback's a bitch, Kylie." I whirled around on my heel and continued down the hall. I had my hand on the door knob when I was stopped. "You weren't going to leave the house without saying goodbye to your old man, were you?" my dad asked from behind me. I turned around, smiling at him. "No daddy! Of course not!" I hugged him tightly. "That's my girl. Have a good day at school, okay?" "I will, daddy! Bye mom! Bye Jack! Bye Stacey!" I hollered as I went out the front door. Smiling as the sun shone down on me, I walked down my driveway. Man, it feels like summer! I thought to myself. Grabbing my Ipod touch from my backpack, I started to play 'You make me feel' by Cobra Starship. God I love that song!
I walked for a few blocks, until I reached my school. I smiled to myself, and took a deep breath. This is it! I walked towards the entrance of the building. Nearing the building, I was suddenly grabbed from behind, a hand covering my mouth. I screamed.
