"Did you do it?" I asked, eagerness evident in my voice as I practically shouted down the phone. I heard a chuckle from the other end of the line. My curiosity was becoming too much for me to handle. "Jules!" I snapped to get his attention.

"Yes! Yes I did it." After knowing Julian as long as I had, I was able to visualize him, walking home in his big grey hoodie that I loved to steal, a grin showing his teeth as he shook his head at my excitement that the plan would now be in motion, his overgrown hair would bounce, flopping into his dark brown eyes.

"What happened? What did you say? What did he say? Are you hurt? you're not in trouble right? Oh god I hope you didn't get into too much trouble-" I babbled and chewed at my nail nervously, I was always like this when Julian picked a fight with someone because of me. Although, this time I asked him to... he would've done it anyway though, but i'd usually scald him for it.

The lengths people go to for revenge huh?

"Violet Calm down!" I heard him laugh again. "and stop chewing your nails." He said.

"how did you know?" I grinned.

"I know everything about you Ainsworth." He replied, in a matter of fact tone. "Anyway, so I picked a fight with Ledger. I got in a few good hits...so did he, but before I left I shoved him into the locker and told him what you asked me to." Julian told me proudly. I felt alot like an overprotective mother when he told me Grayson got in a few good hits too, it was inevitable, but I hated Julian getting hurt.

"Are you okay? Come over. I want too see how bad you look." I told him.

"Don't worry Vi, I still look bangable." I laughed and so did he.

"Okay now seriously, what exactly did you say to him?" I probed even further. To have everything pan out perfectly, I needed to know everything.

"Exactly what you asked; don't you even think about talking to her again." I grinned in relief. Things were going well so far, I was determined not to let Grayson win and so far, I'd say I was winning. He just didn't know it yet.

"Ah, so I should expect a call then." I nodded even though he couldn't see me; it was funny what we did out of habit.

"yeah, okay I've got to go Violet."

"Okay, but Julian - Thanks." I replied.

"No problemo. I'll talk to you later, lots of love."

"Right back at ya." I answered just in time to be heard before he hung up.

Being grounded was going to make this revenge thing a whole lot harder than it would have been under normal circumstances. Then again, if it was under normal circumstances then I wouldn't be out to get revenge in the first place.

I couldn't leave the house, I was only allowed to watch TV on family night, Julian was allowed over but I doubted I was allowed over to his, though it hadn't been clarified. How would I hang out with Grayson? There was only one thing I could do I guess, but it meant possible death and a definite game over if I got caught; sneak out.

It shouldn't be that hard right? With my parents working full hours, I could pull this off.

I hoped.

The wait for Grayson's call was excruciatingly long. I shamefully admit that I really did sit in my spinning leather chair at my small desk where my phone was placed, staring it out. However, when it came, it was easy to wait for it to ring a little while before answering.

"Hello?" I asked innocently, pretending I really wasn't expecting a phone call and on top of that, that I didn't know who it was. "Who's this?"

"Well I'm hurt Ainsworth, you'd think by now you'd have saved my number." His melodic voice came calm and playfully down the line and I did my best to play my roll.

This should be easy right? I'd taken drama classes for as long as I could remember.

"Grayson." I mumbled into the phone with hatred and distaste.

"Nice to hear from you too princess." His playful attitude really was begging to wind me up, but I knew I had to react carefully, play the game with precision. He was simply calling me because he thought I didn't want him to call me.

"What do you want?" I gritted my teeth.

"Just to tell you I'm very amused you sent your little puppy to fight your battles." He replied and I realised, this whole time I had been waiting for this call and I hadn't even thought about what he might say and how I should respond.

Play it cool Violet Ainsworth. You got this.

"I did not send him. He chose to stand up for me. Not that I stopped him." I answered matter of factly.

"Well isn't he the perfect little boyfriend." He mocked. "Though I'm sure he doesn't want to be the next one to get thrown out of school. Am I right?" His voice was clear and confident, my breath caught in my throat.

"He is not my boyfriend! You have nothing on him anyway." I narrowed my eyes.

"Not yet.." he taunted. "But Ainsworth, once upon a time I didn't have anything on you either." I could practically hear his smirk.

"Leave him alone!" I snapped to which he let out an exasperated chuckle.

"I will" he said. "If  you agree to hang out with me on Saturday."

And he took the bait.

He only wanted me to do this because he thought I didn't want too, but who cared? This was going better than I had imagined.

"Me? hang out with you? Forget it." I played. The further I pushed him away, the closer he would try to get. It was perfect.

"Well, I guess you and Julian Hastings will be joining a new school together then huh?" I could hear it in his voice that he was having fun, getting some type of pleasure out of thinking he was really getting under my skin. When honestly, all I really felt was excitement, maybe my revenge would teach him a lesson.

"You manipulative son of a b-"

"So I'll pick you up tomorrow at 11?" He cut me off.

"No earlier, there's a chance my mother will be home until at least ten thirty." I muttered, putting as much distaste into my attitude as I could conjure up.

"I'm looking forward to it, doll face." I cringed.

"That makes one of us." I mumbled before hanging up.

freaking doll face?
