Chapter 5:

“Look Ma… look its Spiderman.” Bellowed the kid from the adjacent apartment for what seems like the tenth time but his mother never paid hid to it.

While Scarlett was thankful for it, but she was at the same time getting extremely irritated by the kid’s constant yelling, after all she was losing focus. Well focus for what, you ask? So after having done a victory dance on her finding out an instant escape from Ryan’s apartment, Scarlett didn’t waste any time in flinging her legs out from the window and grabbing the pipe which was conveniently placed very close to the window sidebar. And also the pipe was broad and strong enough to hold her weight and it ended near the steel ladder which Scarlett had spotted fixed near the balcony of the apartment below. Now all she had to do was quit looking down, so she wouldn’t be paralyzed at spot by the height and not lose her grip on the pipe.

“Ma…Come here please. Look its Spiderman. And he is not even wearing his mask.”  And here he goes again.

“No you little brat, it’s Spiderwoman.” Scarlett hollered back.

“Spiderwo… oh ma Spiderman spoke to me.”

“Good god, save me.”

She slowly glided down the pipe, ignoring the constant yelling of the little boy. She didn’t want his mom to take notice of this idiotic Spiderman gliding down a pipe.  The woman would sure make a chaos of why a girl like her would be pulling off such stunts. Speaking of which…

“Oh… What is it Craig? Go inside do your …….oh Jesus just what are you doing there?”

“Oh- hey hey…nothing I’m just you know…I kind of…”

“What, nothing? Get down now or I would call the police. You are trying to break in, aren’t you?” Just as Scarlett suspected. ‘Ok, so don’t look down. Keep your grip strong on the pipe. And handle your crazy fan and his mother, Spidey.’

“NO- do I look like a thug? I’m just trying to get back in the apartment. I forgot the keys, Mam. I live in the apartment next to you.” Scarlett tried to reason with an illogical lie made up at that moment itself and even beamed up at her and continued…

“WE ARE NEIGHBOURS.” Said Scarlett, pasting a big old’ smile on her face; which didn’t help the creepiness of the situation because that just looked more idiotic to the woman next door.

“Are you insane? There are extra keys kept with the janitor in the building.” Well then there goes another one thinking she is insane.

“OH…I…I totally forgot. I guess… I’ll just have to go back down now.”

“Idiot.” And with the ‘disapproving shrug’ as old and familiar as time to her, the woman shut her apartment window in her face but not before Scarlett  heard the little boy and his mother arguing….

“But mom it’s superman…”

“No it isn’t. It’s just a lunatic.”

Blocking out all thoughts, Scarlett once again concentrated on reaching the steel ladder as soon as possible, she wouldn’t want Ryan to walk in on her escape mission. So with that she again concentrated back on sliding back down the pipe. She let out a long breath and slid downside slowly.
