Yesterday was like a nightmare. I'm somewhat still in denial. Humph, this is genuinely the definition of being life's bitch. Now what was I supposed to do? I took the prescriptions Kaiba had left on the kitchen counter and drank it. I lazed on the couch and wondered what my friends were doing. Maybe they were working on that assignment that was simply absurdly stupid. I mean that's quality stupidity right there, sixty percent my foot.

Penny Dreadful theme song started to blare on my phone. I picked it up and answered the call.

"Shanaza, what happened? Someone told us that they saw you coming out of the hospital on a stretcher."

I was on a stretcher? I didn't even know that. "Hey Yugi, I'm fine."

          "Are you home?"

"Yeah, I won't be going to class today. If you see Marik, please tell him that I won't be able to work on the assignment for just now with him, so he can just find a new partner."

          "Marik? Who's Marik?"

I rolled my eyes, "Medium build, blond long hair, lilac eyes- you seriously don't know him?" I asked.

A pause then Yugi informed me, "No, I don't think I've ever seen him."

"Well it is a big campus. I mean I didn't even know he was taking the same class with us," I agreed.

"Joey and the guys want to come over. If you're up for it we can," Yugi said.

"Sure, come over," I smiled at the thought of having people here.

         "Good, see you soon."

The call ended and the image of my aunt flashed across my mind. She was like a statue, with the exception of silver tears slipping from her eyes infrequently. Well, there wasn't any better way to tell her about the return of my cancer.

                    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

"I can't believe you didn't tell us," Yugi said sitting across me.

There was no way I was giving up this couch. It was mine, all mine. They instead took some chairs out from the dining room and were sitting perfectly comfortable on them.

"It's not exactly something you go about blabbing to people."

"We understand that Shanaza. But, come on, we're your friends. What, you don't think that's something important for us to know?" Joey scowled.

"Joey, please," I lifted a hand and he shut up.

He was peeved. I was more peeved. I mean, I don't know how longer I had to fricking live and he was angry with me? What did he have to be angry about?! I didn't say anything. The silence was comforting. I liked it. Knock, knock, knock! Now who could that be? Duke looked questioningly at me. I nodded my head and he went to open the door.

"You shouldn't be out of bed you know," the voice wafted into the living room.

He went from animated to inanimate, his expression like that of adulterous adults caught right in the spotlight. Kaiba looked at Duke, who clearly wasn't me, to Joey, Yugi and Tristin.

"What's he doing here?" Joey openly asked.

"I invited him." I didn't, but I certainly did not want to turn him away. Everyone was having a mini staring contest then I coughed and requested, "Would someone please bring me water? Joey?" I volunteered.
