Chapter Thirteen: Balancing Out

Balancing Out

Professor X's POV

I returned Jade'a swords to her. She's been getting better over the past few weeks here. And she's been noticeably happier this week for some reason. I've heard children talking about dating, but I don't see how that has to do with her ability to wield such dangerous weapons. It seems that she is responsible enough to handle them now. I just have one final test. Storm, I reach into Storm's mind, Come in here. Storm enters the room.

"Yes Charles?"

"Bring Logan in here." Logan enters seconds later.

"Yeah Charles, what do ya need?"

"I want you to, how do you kids say it, 'piss Jade off'." Logan is surprised and falters in his step. We both know that this can't be pretty. 

"Uhh you sure Charles? She can be a handful."

"Yes I know. I want to see how she reacts without Aaron there."

"Okay but how do you suppose I do that?"

"Just be yourself." Storm jokes. Logan snarls at her then walks out the door and into the courtyard in the front of the mansion.

We watch through the window. Logan approaches Jade and says something. She appears to be getting aggravated. She punches Logan once, then he keeps saying something that causes her eyes to start glowing. Just then Aaron appears, walking out from behind the desk in my room. "What the Hell is Logan doing!"

"Aaron calm down, it's just another test."

"No! You don't get it! She could kill him!" He runs into the wall and runs back out of the fountain in the yard.

Jade's POV

Logan approaches me. "Hey Logan."

"Hey Jade." He hesitates to speak but then come out with it. "Umm... You're a freak." I look at him.

"Ha ha very funny Logan." I can tell he's trying to piss me off. I've been controlling my temper lately, it'll take a lot more than that. I start walking away when he says something that makes my heart stop.

"I killed Wade..."

Logan's POV

Jade slowly turns around to face me. Her eyes are glowing so fiercely that I want to run and hide. "WHAT!" I immediately want to take back what I said... I hope this is enough for Charles.

"Jade... I'm sorry..."

"You're sorry? Sorry!?" She begins to attack me with punches and kicks. "You took away my only family! SORRY DOESN'T CUT IT!" She draws her swords from their sheaths on her back.

"Whoah Jade... calm down." She stabs me with such speed that I can't react.

"So what did you do Logan? Stab him through the heart with your claws?" She slices across my stomach. "Or dismember him?" She cuts my thigh, right where the main artery is. If I didn't heal fast I would've been dead. "Or did you cut off his head?!" She swings but the swords stop and hit something clear in front of me... A force field. Just then, Aaron runs up and tackles Jade from behind, pushing me to the ground several feet from them.
