The Wedding

Jade's POV

Belle is too excited to get me ready. She loves to play with my hair, twisting it into braids with names that are so ridiculous they can't be real. "You know, since you're going for a more earthy look," Belle brushes hair out of my eyes and kneels down in front of me, observing my face, "lets keep your hair straight, but pin this," She gathers up the green strands of hair and twists them, pulling them to the back of my head, "here." I nod in agreement. Belle's the makeup expert, so I'll go along with what she says.

She rubs a goldish powder on my eyelids, and I learn that this is called eyeshadow. "That's a stupid name." Belle is attempting to put lipstick me, but I keep talking. "I mean why shadow? Why not, like, powder." Belle's blue eyes have to keep refocusing as she pulls the lipstick away for the third time.

"Jade so help me if you don't stop talking." I purse my lips but she shakes her head. "No do this." She parts her lips and puffs them out slightly. "No! Don't duck face!" She throws her head back and laughs, finally giving up. "You are possibly the worst girl I have ever met." I glance down at my chest with disappointment.

"Welp, I guess these were a waste then." I push out my chest and she laughs again.

"Enough! Jade!" Her face is red from laughing, "I'm having a difficult time oxygizing!"

"Is that even a word?" We both laugh and put on our sandals.

"Who cares." A tissue box falls off of the table in the corner of the room and I bring a finger to my lips. Aaron is trying to sneak up on us.

"Run!" Belle and I sprint out the door, running into Dan. He's wearing a dressy shirt and tie, which is good for him I guess.

"Hey ladies." He shoves his hands into his pockets and sighs. "What a freak show, huh?" Belle steps back with a shocked face while I'm just confused. "It's all a mistake if you ask me, dudes fucking dudes." I motion for him to cut off, Aaron is somewhere behind us. "Jason was a marine. You think he'd have more common sense." Belle gasps and I turn my head.

"Aaron..." He's standing behind us, feet away. His jaw is dropped, his hands hanging at his sides. Pain fills his blue eyes, like everything was directed towards him.

"Hey dude, I didn't mean-" Aaron charges Dan, pinning him against the wall.

"What did you say about my brother?" Dan doesn't respond so Aaron pushes harder on his throat. "Huh? WHAT DID YOU SAY?" Belle flinches and backs up to the wall, covering her mouth to hold back a cry. She's surprised with what Dan said, and so am I. "I DARE YOU, SAY IT AGAIN!" I wrap my arms around Aaron's waist, pulling him away from Dan. He struggles in my grasp, but soon his hands rest onto mine. He relaxes into my arms. "Some would say you were the freak Dan! So don't you dare insult him!"

"What's the deal! It's not like I insulted Jade!" I can feel Aaron's back muscles contract against my chest. He's getting upset again.

"He's my brother!"

"He's a fag!" Dan's eyes widen as soon as the word leaves his lips, and Aaron breaks free from me as soon as he hears them. He punches Dan the face and waits for him to fall to the ground before bending over and holding his hand. His knuckles are red, and pain covers his face again.

"How do you do it?" He asks me innocently, looking up from his bent position. I smile and wrap an arm around his waist, leading him away from a dazed Dan and speechless Belle. I don't like drama.

"Years of practice." I say, looking up at Aaron. He nods and smiles, wrapping his arm around my shoulders. His blue eyes look me up and down with a satisfied look.
