I didn't want to wake up. I was content in the spot I was, my back warm from where the sun shone on it, and the tips of long fingers gliding up and down my spine, calmingly. My face rested on Harry's smooth, solid chest and my eyelids brushed against it as they opened.
The sun was bright through the open curtains and I tucked my face into his neck to avoid it. I felt Harry's arms tighten around me and plant a kiss to my head.
I closed my eyes again as his hands drew meaningless patterns onto my back. I felt slightly surprised when I heard his angel-like voice singing, so quietly that I could hardly hear it.
"And I'd give up forever to touch you
Cause I know that you'd feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven
That ill ever be
And I don't want to go home right now"
I smiled at the familiar song, one that Harry knew was a favorite of mine.
"And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your light
Sooner or later it's over, I just don't want to miss you tonight
And I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am."
When he stopped, I didn't move or speak, hoping he would continue again.
"Princess." He said, his morning voice raspy.
I kept my eyes closed, not wanting this moment to be over.
"I know you're awake."
I shook my head against his neck. "No I'm not, just keep going."
I felt his chest shake with a small chuckle.
We stayed silent for a moment before I lifted my chin to rest on his chest and look at him. His dark curls were messy over his forehead and his eyes shone a brighter green in the sunlight.
"I never knew you could sing." I said.
There was a smile on his lips. "It's not exactly something a high ranking gang member would want to show off."
"Well, I like it."
He was smiling sweetly, but there was something in his eyes. I couldn't recognize what it was, but it concerned me. "Whats wrong?"
"I love you."
"Harry I love you too, but-"
"I just-it's just that... You're mine, okay? I'm going to do whatever to keep you safe."
"Don't-"
"I think we should go see Chris today. We haven't talked to him in a while and I need to know what's been going on."
I nodded. "Okay, but what's gotten into you?"
"I can't loose you. You're more mine now then you ever were." He smiled some. "You let me have the most innocent part of you last night. And I will not let anything happen to you."
I realized that if I thought Harry was protective before, I just gave him even more reason to be. All I could do was nod and brush the hair from his eyes reassuringly.
As if his mood could just change completely, his fingers went back to lazily drawing shapes onto my back and his eyelids drooped sleepily.
"How are you feeling?" He asked.
"Good." I smiled.
His eyes went concerned. "Does it hurt?"
I shrugged. "A little sore but nothing I can't handle."
"I wish I could've taken it away, the pain. I wanted it to be perfect for you. And seeing you in tears broke my heart."
I played with his curls, reassuringly. "You did make it perfect. I wouldn't have rather it been with anyone else." I leaned down and kissed his lips quickly before looking at the clock. "We should get up if we're going to go see Chris."
Harry nodded. But neither of us moved instead, he continued to trail his fingers along my spine and stare at me.
I raised an eyebrow.
He smiled. "You first."
I rolled my eyes and sat up, holding the blanket to keep me covered. I frowned as I looked around the room.
"Harry, where are my clothes?"
When he didn't answer, I turned around to see him laying back, one hand behind his head and the other still on my back. He had a devious smile on his face as he looked back at me.
"Guess you'll have to get up and look for them, princess."
I glared at him for a moment, as he smirked back at me. Gathering the sheet I wrapped it around me, ready to stand up when I felt myself be pulled backward and I fell onto the bed.
"Uh uh. The blankets stay on the bed." Harry said, the edge of the sheet wrapped tightly in his hand.
"Come on Harry, let go." I said, trying to pull the blanket from his grasp.
He shook his head. "I like the blankets staying on the bed, it makes to much of a mess."
I crossed my arms over my chest. "When were you ever one to care about a made bed."
"Well baby, I've always been."
I laughed before falling back onto the bed. "Whatever, guess I won't get up then."
"Fine by me." Harry said, tossing the covers off of himself and standing up in his naked glory.
I squealed, pulling the sheet over my face to shield him from my sight. "Harry!"
"What's wrong princess, don't want to see all this?"
"Put some clothes on!"
"You didn't seem to have to much of a problem with my nakedness last night."
I felt my face heat up and was thankful he couldn't see me.
He laughed loudly, knowing how I reacted. "Alright I'm dressed, you can come out now."
I pulled the blanket from my face, only to yank it back up a second later when I saw Harry standing before me, still naked of course. "Harry!"
"Don't be embarrassed baby, you've seen it before."
"It's different now, just get dressed."
He laughed before I heard ruffling and he spoke. "Okay I'm really dressed now."
I reluctantly pried the blanket from my eyes and sighed when I saw Harry in a pair of black boxers and no shirt. I smiled at him before I saw what he had in his hand.
"Give me."
"Come and get it." He said taking a step back and dangling my black underwear in front of him.
"Harry I'm not kidding, I need those."
He gave me a thoughtful look. "Well then I guess you really need to get up and get them from me." With that he ran from the room.
"Harry!" I yelled, unsure of what to do.
He came back a second later, bent over in laughter. "I'm just kidding I'm not that mean." His face went serious. "But seriously, come get them."
Fine. He's going to be so stubborn, I'll get the hell out of the bed. Glaring at him in the whole process, I threw the covers off my body and used my hands to conceal my chest. I jumped up and ran to him as fast as I could, watching the smirk grow on his face. And I could've slapped him when he started taking backward steps away from me.
"Harry!"
He suddenly stopped, his smile full as he held the underwear out to me. Just as I went to grab them, he raised them in the air, far out of my reach.
"Jump." He said seriously.
"You've got to be kidding me."
"Nope. Jump."
Sighing angrily, I used one arm to hide my chest while the other reached up to grab them from his hand. Harry was laughing at my continuous failed attempts as I jumped as high as humanly possible. Damn these short genes.
"Okay, okay." He said after about twenty failed jumps. "Let me." He bent down holding the underwear out for me to step into, which I did quickly.
With my hands still over my chest, I looked around. "Umm, where are the rest of my clothes."
Harry smiled at me before reaching down to pick up his black Rolling Stones tee shirt. He pulled it over my head, with little help from me. The shirt was big and reached mid thigh, allowing me to wear it by itself.
"Come on, lets go get some food."
I followed him out into the kitchen and leaned against the counter as he rummaged through pots and pans.
"So when are we going to go see Chris?"
He shrugged. "I'll have to talk to the guys first, see what they've heard." He turned to look at me and grabbed my hand. "When do you want to go home?"
I looked down and shook my head. "Never. I'm not exactly excited to see her after what she said to me. I don't want to have to stay alone there with her."
"Hey," Harry said, pulling me to him. My arms instinctively wrapped around his torso. "You know you can stay here as long as you want, whenever you want. If it were up to me, I'd just move you in. But I also think you should rethink everything with your mom. She's just worried about you."
I buried my face in his chest. "I just wish she'd give you a chance."
"Alyssa." Harry said, lifting my chin to look at him. "Her opinion doesn't matter. It's not going to change anything between us."
I nodded and puckered my lips jokingly, silently telling him to kiss me. He smiled before leaning down to press a kiss to my lips.
Suddenly, the door was flung open, ruining the moment and someone yelled "Harry!"
Harry and I both turned to see Louis and Zayn standing before us, eyes wide at the sight before them.
I heard a sound like a growl come from Harry when Zayn's eyes roamed over my barely covered body. I was quickly pushed behind Harry's back, where I shifted awkwardly as he glared at Zayn.
"Shit, sorry, we didn't realized you'd have...company." Louis said. He took in our appearances, disheveled hair, Harry in his boxers and me in his shirt, and he smiled before winking at me.
I felt my face grow red as Harry warned. "Louis."
Louis threw his hands up. "Sorry mate. Just came to tell you that Chris has something on Jonathan. We thought It'd be best if you both were there to hear it to."
"I was just going to ask you about what was going on with him. I haven't heard from him in a while. What did he say."
Zayn shrugged. "He just said he had something for us and to get you guys as soon as possible."
Harry nodded. "I'll meet you all at Liam's in an hour. Make sure he's there."
Louis nodded before walking out and taking Zayn with him.
Harry leaned forward onto the island, gripping it tightly. The muscles in his back were clenched tightly. I hurt for him. As hard as this was on me, I knew it was worse for him. Harry wasn't scared of anything. Not a murderer, or a serial killer, not even Jonathan himself. He just had no fears. Except for loosing me. I've never seen someone stress over something as he did over my safety. And as much as he denied it, I knew it was getting to him.
I slid my hands over the smooth skin of his back, reaching up to his neck and squeezing my hands over the tight muscles. His head rolled forward and I felt his shoulders relax under my touch. I traveled over his neck, shoulders, and back, trying to get him to relax some.
He turned around after a few minutes, pulling me into him tightly and resting his head on top if mine. His fingers twirled the ends of my long hair, something both of us loved.
"What's wrong? You were so happy a minute ago." I asked, pulling away from his chest.
"That was until I heard Chris had something for us."
"Why would that ruin your mood? It's not-"
"Because Alyssa, it means that Jonathan has a plan. He's not just letting this go Alyssa, he wants you gone and now we have less time to figure something out!"
He stomped away, into his bedroom. I followed behind him to see him angrily pulling a pair of jeans up and a shirt over his head. He was slamming drawers and the tension I had just rubbed out of his shoulders was back.
"Hey." I said sternly, grabbing his arm to stop him. "This isn't as much of a bad thing. This is good, we can know how to stop him now. We can be one step ahead of him."
He looked down at me, his jaw clenched and his eyes dark.
"I need you to calm down okay? Don't jump to conclusions just yet. We don't even know what it is yet."
His face softened and he reached out to me, his face going to the spot between my neck and shoulder. I brushed my fingers through his hair in an attempt to calm him.
"You keep me sane." He mumbled.
I was trying so hard to be calm for Harry and together. He needed me as much as I needed him. But even as I spoke the words to convince him it was okay, I couldn't seem to convince myself. On the outside I was put together, but on the inside, I was falling apart. As much as Harry didn't want to know what Chris had to say, I didn't either. Because I knew, whatever it was it wasn't good. And just like Harry had said, it meant we had less time. And that, was something that scared me.
