As Al suspected, the Doctor was unconscious by the time he got back. He seemed okay for now, so Al was trying not to worry, but Al was wondering what it would be like for Sam if the Doctor was alright, because Sam seemed okay while the Doctor was struggling, would the reverse have to happen if the Doctor became well again?

"How's he doing?" Al asked the doctor that was standing near the Doctor, who was asleep on a stretcher that they wheeled into the Waiting Room in case Sam leaped, but at the moment, that didn't seem likely to happen for a while. Ziggy estimated that it would take at least another few days.

"I don't really know," the doctor replied. "Everything seems to be normal, like BP and breathing and oxygen intake, but that's all based on human standards. He could need different amounts of oxygen or maybe his normal heart rate should be different- I don't know, but it's all normal for Dr. Beckett. I think his discomfort in this body has something to do with the power of his mind while in his normal body. I'd say he has moderate to advanced telepathic capabilities which could be the reason for-"

"Hold up," Al interrupted. "Telepathic? Are you trying to say that he's psychic? Come on, you don't really think-"

"We've already established that he has a neurological connection with Dr. Beckett just as you do with him, so what's so hard to believe about him having a similar relationship to others?" the doctor inquired reasonably. "If that type of bond can be synthetically established, don't you think it could occur naturally in some species?"

The doctor's argument silenced Al for a while. Finally, he asked, "What else do you know about him?"

"I know that, based on Dr. Beckett's physical, he seemed to be high on more than excitement. I think all the oxygen in Earth's atmosphere is lightening his mood no matter how stressed his mind is trying to become based on his situation. It's simply refusing to acknowledge his situational anxiety because of this imbalance of chemicals going on. It's quite fascinating."

"Is that why the Doctor is so stressed out?" Al wondered aloud, believing her. "Do you think he's feeling the emotions that Sam should be feeling based on neurology and all that?"

"Currently, that's my major hypothesis," the doctor said. Al had never gotten to know any member of staff except Gushie (well, not really. Al was just knew him better than he knew the others, whom he really didn't know at all) and Donna. Donna was pretty much his only friend on the project except Sam. Because he didn't know the other members of staff very well, he had no idea that their doctor was so intelligent. Sam did say that he picked each medical and scientific staff member himself, so obviously (judging by his choice in staff) Sam was a good judge of intelligence and character. This doctor knew what she was talking about.

"Have you heard anything new on why Sam's here?" Al asked.

"Well, apparently there are a few more kids he could be here to save," the doctor replied. "A little boy and another little girl, I think."

"I'll go tell 'im." He paused at the door to the waiting room and called back, "Let me know if he says anything about the weeping angels or anything else!"

"Yes, sir."

Sam was still waiting for Martha. She had been gone a long time, but he wasn't sure exactly how long because he didn't seem to have a watch on him. That was probably in the jacket he left behind. He also couldn't be sure because he had to stare directly at that statue or he'd die.

Suddenly he heard the familiar sound of the Imaging Chamber door opening and closing behind him. He heard Al fiddling with his hand link. Al walked around him from behind so he would be in Sam's field of vision.
