Natasha flung open Corl's door.
"Hideki!" she yelled.
But no one could hear her over the noise in the sitting room.
"What is going on?" I wondered aloud.
A crowd were in the living room and they formed some sort of circle. In the middle of the circle, there was Corl and Denis.
".....I have no idea what you're talking about Denis." started Corl.
"Shhh..." shouted Denis. "Don't awake the ghost of the Merman."
"What is he on about?" whispered Natasha.
I shrugged. I really didn't want to know.
"Hey Denis? You mind telling me what's going on here?" exclaims Natasha.
Denis froze. He looked directly at me.
Then he opened his arms.
"There they are!" Denis cries. "There are the two stars of the party."
"What do you mean?" Corl asked. "Why did you get drunk, and ruin the party?"
Natasha and I stared at each other in confusion. Drunk?
"Well it all started," continued Denis. When I heard that (your name) and Corl were dating."
Natasha stepped foward. "Actually, Denis, Hideki made up a lie. Corl is actually going out with me!"
"Why would Hideki lie to me? She's the most honest person I've ever known." Denis asked, stumbling on his words a little.
Then he did something that made me super angry.
"If (your name) is going out with, Corl, then I can go out with Hideki." Denis said, pulling Hideki close.
"UGH!" I scream at him. "I AM NOT IN LOVE WITH CORL!"
"I see what's happening here." Denis said. "You love me, don't you?"
I didn't say anything, because I was afraid I would say something that would prove he was right.
Then I noticed something extremely strange. Hideki was close next to Denis, but she looked really afraid, like she was scared Denis would hurt her. Little by little, I saw her edge further and further away from him. But Denis didn't notice this. He was way too drunk.
"I'm not in love with anyone." I lied. My eyes were still focused on Hideki. She looked absolutely terrified.
Then she stepped forward.
"I'm sorry, Denis." Hideki says, while putting her head in her hands. "I made all that stuff up. I only wanted to make a joke, just to see how (your name) would react. But... I see now and... I'm so sorry."
She turns to me. "Can you ever forgive me?"
But I wasn't listening.
I was more afraid of what Denis was doing.
"You lied to me?!" he cried, and smashed the bottle against the wall.
He lifted up the bottle, and I was afraid that Hideki was going to get hurt.
I may not like Hideki, but I didn't want to see her head smashed open by a crazy maniac hold a bottle of Vodka!
So I screamed at Hideki to get out of the way and held my hand in front to protect her.
The bottle came crashing down on my hand, causing immense pain to shoot up into my shoulders.
"AARGH!" I scream as everyone rushed to my aid.
Tears steamed down my face and I stared at my hand. Red liquid dripped to the floor.
I couldn't tell if it was from the the Vodka or my blood.
Then I remembered.
Vodka isn't red.

Half an hour later, I was sitting in Corl's bathroom, getting my hand bandaged up by Natasha.
"I know first aid." Natasha said for the five millionth time.
Did she think I cared?
I only cared about getting out of here alive and well.
But then I felt a bit mean and so I smiled at her. "I'm glad you know first aid. Or else that would be a huge problem for me."
"There!" Natasha said, admiring her work. "It doesn't look bad."
I looked at my hand. It felt so heavy, I could barely lift it.
"If you feel a bit weird, we can always call an ambulance." Natasha went on.
There was no way I was calling an ambulance on Christmas Day.
"I'll be fine." I said. I tried to edge past her but she stopped me.
"You know, you saved Hideki from being knocked unconscious." Natasha told me.
I didn't say anything.
"She's really grateful." Natasha continued.
"I wanna go home." I told her.
So she walked me home and not another word was spoken on the trip.
