"What do you mean we're lost?!" I cried.
"I never thought we'd go this deep into the woods. I'm sorry. I don't see our bags anywhere." Bella replied, flopping on the ground.
I angrily took my phone out of my pocket. I got a text from Denis.
I nearly flung my phone into the grass in rage.
"Ugh! This is absolutely awful!" I screamed and flopped on the ground next to Bella.
"You're telling me." Bella muttered.
"Now hold on a minute. You're the one who suggested this." I remind her.
Bella sat up miserably. "This is awful."
I put my hand on her shoulders. "Now, Bella if we didn't go to this camping trip, then we mightn't of went out today. We'd be stuck inside - with no camping trip."
"No camping trip at all would have been better than a camping trip from hell!" Bella exclaimed.
I heard rustling in the bushes but tried my best to ignore them. Then I heard a 'whoop whoop' sound. I gulped. Bella jumped up.
"You heard that, right?"
I nodded, too afraid to speak.
Bella put her finger to her lips and crept towards the bushes.
I followed her slowly and when she got to the bush, she slowly pushed back the leaves and looked inside.
"Oh cute!" Bella whispered. I peered in and I had to agree, sleeping raccoons did look kinda a cute.
Then one raccoon woke up and looked at Bella. Then it turned its head and looked at me.
"Oh, this is so cute!" I felt like saying, but the raccoon looked at me and jumped out at me. I screamed and pushed the raccoon onto the ground and just when I thought I was safe, the other raccoons woke up.
"Oh snap." Bella said.
The raccoon chased us back up a hill, around in circles and through the trees.
Then we lost them.
Bella and I paused for a breath.
Then I called Denis.
"Denis, we were chased by raccoons and we're even more lost than we were before." I said.
"What do you see when you look around? I may be able to help you." Denis asked.
I gulped. "Trees." I said.
"Oh."
"I doubt there's anyway that you can help us now."
"I can see a bush and raccoons are sleeping in there." said Denis.
I felt really frustrated. Why didn't we just leave the bush alone, if we did Denis would've came a few minutes later.
"How did you get lost, anyway?" Denis asked.
"A swan chased us then the raccoons chased us and now we don't know where we are." I was close to tears.
Would Mum and Dad finally find our skeletons?
"Do you know which direction you ran when the raccoon chased you?"
"Well," I said. "They chased us up a hill, the around in circles."
I could hear Denis jogging on the phone.
"I think, they chased us through a small forest." I said, after a while.
"Hang up, and I'll be there in a few minutes." Denis said.
I hung up.
Later on, it felt like an hour had passed and Denis still wasn't here.
"I'm cold." Bella said suddenly. "And hungry."
"Well, I'm sorry Bella but-" I started but Bella interrupted me.
"Maybe we can eat that pig over there." Bella said, not listening.
Pig?!
I swivelled my head around and looked at what Bella was talking about. It looked like a very hairy pig. Then I realised, it wasn't a pig.
It was a boar!
"Bella." I whispered. "Don't move."
My heart started racing as the speeding power of adrenaline flowed through me.
The boars nose went up and sniffed the air.
Was it sniffing for fear?
"Can we still eat it?" Bella asked, her voice shaking.
"No, we can't eat it!" I hissed. "It'd kill us. Besides, how do you expect we'd catch it?"
"I know exactly how." Bella says, trying to act brave. She takes off her shoe, and flings it at the boar.
"Bella! What the hell?!" I cry out but there is no point, as the boar comes trundling down the hill and we have to run.
"My shoe! The monster pig has got my shoe!" Bella shouted at me, hobbling on one foot.
"Then maybe you shouldn't have thrown it at the him!" I said. I grabbed my hand and hoisted her onto my back.
Then Bella accidentally slips off causing me to tumble forwards. Pain darted through my ankle.
"Bella!" I scream. "Help!"
Bella gets up and grabs my hand. Then she pulled me up and I lift her up while hobbling on my painful ankle.
Exhausted, I flop unto the grassland Bella falls next to me.
"(Your name!)" Bella screeches. "That scary pig monster is running after us!"
But I was way too tired to even think. I lay back on the grass, ready for my death.
Bella lay next to me, with tears glistening in her eyes. She slips her hand into mine and hugs me.
And we wait for our death.
Then there's an earsplitting noise of gunshot and a large 'thud.'
Bella sat up in surprise, but I was too tired to lift a finger.
"(Your name)! T-the monster is dead!" Bella squeaked.
I regain my energy and sit up. "Huh?"
"Ya'all alright?" says a short man emerging from the small forest. "I was out hunting and saw you girls were in trouble. So I shot the boar."
"You saved our lives!" I cry. "Thank you!"
The man smiled and lifted the boar's head. "Fresh meat." The man smiled, and opened the boar's mouth.
I was starting to feel a little bit sick.
"I believe this belongs to you!" The man hand Bella her shoe which was now cover in boar saliva.
Bella smiled weakly. "Thank you."
"Bye!" I launch to my feet, not caring about my ankle. I just had to get out of there.
"If you girls are looking for the exit, it's just over there." The man points and I can see a clearing.
Our bags lay there, untouched.
We thanked him and rushed to the clearing. Denis was a few metres away and we called out to him.
"Denis, let's just forget about this camping trip." Bella says quickly and I nod in agreement.
He shrugs. "Ok."
And they walked home, while I hobbled behind.
