Strange Behavoir

The next morning, Denis knocked twice on his window.

I walked to the window and I pull the curtains so feircely that they fall down. I groan and open my window. Denis does the same.

"Hey." He calls. "You alright?" 

"No." I say. "I'm tired and I don't wanna go to school." 

Denis just laughed.

I smile even though I was hurt inside. "Natasha told me she wasn't going into school today because she has a headache. Braden is staying with her." Denis called. "Wanna walk to school together?"

No.

"Sure," I said, like I didn't care one way or the other. "One minute."

I got showered, dressed and ate breakfast. Then I rushed out the door. Denis was nearby on the beach. He was staring out at the waves. I slowly crept behind him. 

"What am I going to do about Hideki?" He asks without turning around.

What did he expect me to tell him?

I gently lay a hand on his shoulder. "What do you think you have to do?" Denis shrugged, which really annoyed me. I mean what fool would still want to talk to an overprotective popular girl?

Or get on the bad side of her?

"I feel like I shouldn't talk to her at all. I mean, she scared Natasha, but she was only trying to protect me. What should I do?" Denis turned around facing me.

We stood there with an eerie silence in the air. Then I couldn't take it anymore.

"I'm sorry, Denis but I wouldn't talk to an overprotective yandere girl!! But I guess it's different for you!Hideki annoyed nearly everyone in my class yesterday when the teacher's back was turned. She nearly broke Chie's Nintendo!"

Denis just looked at me like I had told him a compliment. "Cmon, we gotta get to school." Denis urged and walked on.

I caught hold of his arm. "Denis," I said my face burning up. "Natasha is fine now. Why are you worrying so much? A-and why do you want to forgive Hideki?"

"Because Hideki is my friend!" Denis raises his voice. I step back suddenly scared.

Then Denis smiles a cheerful smile. "Now let's get to school, shall we?"

There were no words exchanged when me and Denis made our way to school, no one could tell that we were walking to school together. They'd see us and think we were just two strangers walking to school.

But not friends.

When people are walking to school together, there's an energy that you can't miss. They stay close together, they smile, even if they aren't talking, you could tell that they knew each other very well.

Denis was smiling like a maniac and we were both close to each other, I bet no one could tell that we were both friends.

No one could tell we even talked to each other, or shared a smile.

All I'm saying is, I wouldn't like to share Denis' smile.

It looked like it was painted on, and you could tell it was fake.

I felt sorry for him. He must have been really unhappy inside if he had such a fake smile. But why did he have to be so overprotective of Tash?

Then a horrible thought crossed my mind.

Was Hideki's overprotectiveness rubbing off on Denis?

When we walked through the school gates, I wished for the millionth time that I was at my old school with Jessi to comfort me.

Or at my first ever house, back in Ireland with Bella to annoy me.

"Denis!" calls out a shy voice."Hey."

Hideki.

I turn my head in her voices' direction and see her running over with her red hair getting in her face. She brushes it back and smiles.

"I'm sorry Denis," she says and hugs him.

Hugs him?

To my surprise Denis hugs her back. They laugh and start talking.

Oh come on. Denis wouldn't talk to me on our trip to school.

Why would he talk to Hideki after everything she's done?

Hideki turns quiet and walks slowly to me.

"I'm sorry for scaring Natasha." Hideki voice is very quiet.

I look around at everyone in the schoolyard. They don't seem to care. Then I realized something. I remembered yesterday, they didn't seem to care when Natasha got hurt either! They just got on with their own lives.

'Why doesn't anyone care?' I ask.

Hideki shrugs. "I texted Natasha an Yuy. They  forgive me."

Excuse me?

Was she implying the fact that I care that Natasha fainted?

I thought Tash was really sick!

"This school is crazy." I mutter.

Hideki catches hold of my arm.

I was shocked. What she doing?

"Well, you're going to have to get used to it.." Hideki says menacingly.

I look at Denis for help, but he still had that maniac look on his face, so he was no use. I wrench my hand from her grip and run to the back of the school. They call after me, but there was no way I was looking back.

I spot Yuy at the side of the school with her head in her hands. Chie was beside her trying to play a game on her nintendo, and and comfort Yuy at the same time.

"Guess what? I've found out Hidkei's a maniac." I say, rubbing my arm.

Yuy looks up with red, swollen eyes. "Have you heard anything about Natasha yet?" she asks me.

"Yeah." I say."She's not hurt, hut Hideki scared her and she fainted. She's out of hospital, now."

Yuy shrieks with joy and hugs both me and Chie.

"Now." Yuy says solemnly. "Let's get down to business."

I felt a bit afraid.

"What business?" I ask.

I was asking a question I didnt want the answer to.

"Well.. don't you feel like Hideki has to be punished?" Yuy looked at me with cold grey eyes. I soon became entranced in them.

I nod.

"Well." Yuy continues. "Hideki has screwed us over big time."

"You'll have to help. When we're done," Chie continues. "Hideki won't speak to Denis EVER AGAIN."
