Bella and Braden

Every day, after school, ever since I went to this new school Mum would sit me down and ask about school.

She got me a glass of milk.

She gave me an organic biscuit that tasted of sawdust.

And I would tell her everything.

She smiled and said she's proud of me for being with Tash through this difficult time. I smiled and walked up the stairs. Then I cried. I missed Tash so much but that didn't make any sence since I didn't even know her for 4 hours.

A knock at a window startled me. Then I realised what it was. It was Denis trying to window message me. I dragged myself over to the window. 

It was Braden. My old best friend! I can't believe I forgot he went to my school! I was so caught up in myself..

"Corl?" I squeaked. Then I launched open the window so abruptly that I nearly flung myself out.

"Hi!" I called. He opened the window. "Is Bella there?"

Bella?

What does he want with my eight-year old sister?

And another question I forgot to ask!

"Corl. Why are you in Denis' house?" I ask. 

"We were recording videos. But Bella wouldn't stop banging on Denis' door and she wants me to fix her vending machine. She disapeared and me and Denis are worried. Denis told me about your window messaging and I figured this was the best way to get your attention." Corl tells me. "If you see her, tell her I'll fix her vending machine." 

I nod and race downstairs to find Bella. "I want another vending machine!" screams  Bella to Mum and Dad. "Stop being such a spoiled brat." I tell her and drag her to my window. We slowly drag her vending machine to my room.

Corl gives me the thumbs up sign and says to Bella. "Insert a quarter into the vending machine slot hole thingy or.. whatever it's called."

Bella looks at me hopefully. "All of my quarters ran out. Do you have any?"

I sigh and rummage about in my pocket for a quarter. When I find one, I hand it to her.

Bella's eyes brightened up and she put the quarter in the vending machine.

Nothing happens.

Bella's face turned red in rage. "THIS STUPID PIECE OF JUNK ROBBED ME!" Bella yells hitting it with her fists

I turn to Corl hopefully. He sighs. "I'll be there in a few minutes."

When Corl arrives Bella rushes downstairs and drags Corl up to my room. "Fix it!" she commands.

"Hand me the keys." Corl says.

We stood there, not knowing what to do.

Then Bella runs into her room.

"Found them!" She yells.

Me and Corl stare at each other nervously.

Bella tramps into my room holding the keys. She thrusts them at Corl.

Corl uses the keys and opens the vending machine. He reaches inside and pulls out a quarter. Bella claps with glee. 

Corl puts the quarter in the slot and waits.

Nothing happens.

Corl, looking very desperate kicks the vending machine. Then suddenly there is a whirr and a Hello Kitty chocolate bar falls out of the take out port. Bella jumps up and down. "Thank you, Corl!"

She flings her arms around him.

I smile. I love seeing my sister and friend happy.
