♢♧●You say you would sacrifice yourself for your loved ones
But when it comes down to it

Is that really what you'd do?●♧♢

Everything starts as a blur, a chaos too intricate to register, but when it is, it's a deathly cold chill down the spine. Ears still ringing, heads still pounding, Katrina and Chanel crawl out of the crashed car, witnessing the terror in front of them. Undead beings haunting the streets, devouring helpless people, destroying the world they once knew.

Katrina turned to her sister, in hope of a comforting response, an "it's okay, everything will be alright", but of course that wasn't the response she received. Instead Chanel finally snapped out of her horrified trance and grabbed Katrina forcefully by the arm, pulling her along as she ran in the opposite direction of the crowd.

"W-what's going on? Where are we going..?" Katrina asked shakily, in tears from fright. Chanel remained silent, pulling her along.

"Chanel.." Still no response.

"Chanel! Listen to me!" Katrina shouted, surprised at her own volume. Chanel stopped, turning to her sister, her face cold and serious.

"Katrina listen, there's no time to stop. I know it's shocking, I know  it's a lot to handle, but you have to if you want to survive." Chanel tried to keep a stern, non wavering voice, which was only half working.

"So it really is.." Katrina began to speak, trailing off as she thought about the events that had happened in a matter of five minutes at most.

"The apocalypse, yes. And we can't be anywhere near the crowd, that's where the zombies are, now please Katrina we need to go!" Chanel spoke the last few words with particular emphasis, pulling Katrina once again, running as fast as possible.

Thoughts were passing in and out of Katrina's mind, one thought sticking out from the rest.

"But, Chanel! What about mom and dad?! We can't just leave them!" Katrina yelled to Chanel, nearly screeching with her cracking, crying voice. Chanel didn't stop, then Katrina pulled away.

"Katrina please, we can't go to them right now, we could get killed if we go now!" Chanel insisted, trying to be as quiet but stern as possible, hoping not to attract zombies.

"I don't care! I'd sacrifice anything for them!" Katrina shouted loudly, now crying heavily. Chanel tried to approach her with a soothing hand, but Katrina refused.

"You're heartless! How can you leave them! If you won't go, I will!" She proclaimed, running off towards the crowd, towards her parents.

"Katrina, no!" She grunted, looking off into the distance, she couldn't just leave her sister, but was she really willing to sacrifice herself if it came to that?

After only a few seconds of mulling it over, she could hear two or three zombies approaching from a distance, she needed to make a decision, and now.

"I'm sorry Katrina..I swear I'll come back for you.." Chanel whispered, running away from any people or zombies approaching, running the opposite direction from her sister.

Katrina ran quickly through the crowd, pushing anyone in her way aside, although in tears she knew she still had to be aware of her surroundings. She watched for any zombies on the way, dodging any approaching. When she was nearing her parents home she saw three zombies 'guarding' the house. There weren't any visible weapons in her reach nearby, so she planned to go through the back door. Behind the house was clear of zombies, she threw a rock near the zombies around the front of the house to distract them so she was able to dash to the back. Katrina slowly and eerily opened the back door, cringing as it creaked loudly. She shut the door gently behind her.

From her sight as to where she was, her parents were nowhere in sight.

"Mom? Dad? Are you guys here?" Katrina called out, eagerly hoping they were alive. After checking the downstairs, with no sign of them Katrina headed upstairs, calling again.

"Mom, Dad?!" She peeked her head into each room, walking down the narrow dark hallway. She finally reached the last door, the bathroom, and slowly peeked her head in. In shock, she fell to her knees immediately breaking down in tears, for right in front of her on the floor were her parents, side by side. Both of them had zombie bites, as well as bullets in their heads, a gun laying by their side. As she wiped her tears and reached for the gun, she saw that they died holding hands, they died together.

She cried, her head in her hands, yearning for just a moment more with her parents. Suddenly she heard a growling down the hall, she peeked out seeing a zombie not 30 feet away. Her eyes widened in fear as she pushed herself against the wall, gun in hand, ready to shoot. She took a deep breath, taking a step into the hallway, severely close to the zombie, aiming the gun at its head. Katrina didn't hesitate and pulled the trigger..but nothing happened. There were no bullets, she froze, dropping the gun, fearing for her life.

"No no no noo.." she repeated over and over as the zombie came closer and closer, as she pressed herself tightly to the wall.

"Please, no! No! Chanel! Please, please I'm sorry for not listening please!" She cried out, screaming and crying at the same time.

Just then screams from zombies could be heard from outside, the sound of a zombie being murdered. The zombie was just about to turn around and go to the sound seconds later, when suddenly like a flash of light its head was chopped off by a rusty jagged shovel found half buried in the front yard that broke apart just after it sliced off the zombie's head. It's limp body dropped to the floor, the one responsible was Chanel, also responsible for the killing of the three zombies out front.  Katrina cried even more than before, now tears of happiness. Chanel gave a weak smile back.

"I couldn't just leave you" she replied, going to her embracing her in a comforting hug.
