Katrina woke up the next day and saw Chanel sleeping on the other side of the storage room, making her assume Ava took second shift on keeping watch. Without waking Chanel up Katrina sat up and threw the blankets that were on top of her carelessly in the corner of the room. She rubbed her eyes and exited the storage room, closing the door gently behind her, again in an attempt not to wake Chanel for she figured she still must be tired.
Ava was still awake outside keeping watch, it was an hour or two after dawn yet she didn’t seem tired at all. As she heard Katrina coming outside her head snapped to her direction immediately on instinct.
“Scared me for a second there Kat.” Ava said, using her nickname or the first time.
“Uh, you can just call me Katrina..anyway, did you get any sleep?” Katrina asked, trying to start up conversation.
“About two hours of sleep before I started keeping watch, but I’ve survived on less.” Ava said proudly. Katrina gave an admirable expression.
“Wow, personally I can’t survive on less than 5 hours of sleep.” Katrina gave a small chuckle.
“I’m pretty impressive,” Ava joked. “So, how’s that sister of yours doing?” Ava asked, her tone changing slightly as she tried to hide her intentions with her facial expression.
“Still asleep, why? Did you two uh, fight last night? I know I said some things about her but I-” Katrina began to ramble on when Ava cut her off.
“Don’t you worry your pretty little head about it, we got along just fine.” Ava said smoothly.
“Oh, thank God.” Katrina said with a relieved sigh, not catching and falseness in Ava’s statement. “I was afraid you two would kill each other.” She joked. Ava gave a fake laugh,
“That’s silly, why don’t I go wake her? I have some ideas for what we could do today, after all why sit around like ducks all the time when we can be doing things worth while?”
“Uh, alright..? What did you have in mind?” Katrina asked inquisitively.
“Think of it as a sort of patrol, gather more people, create a survival group, could help us along the way.”
“We’ll have to see Chanel’s opinion of that, you know she doesn’t usually like letting many people in. I’m surprised she actually let you stay with us frankly.” Ava smirked slightly.
“I’ll persuade her with logic, seems that’s the one thing she can’t deny.”
“Maybe, well good luck, I’ll just gather up some weapons and supplies for this little ‘patrol’.” Katrina said as Ava gave a nod.
As Katrina gathered the necessities, Ava went into the storage room to wake up Chanel. Not being as careful in not waking Chanel up, Ava opened the door quickly with a creek. Chanel jolted awake and glared at Ava as she saw her at the door.
“What do you want?” Chanel asked with a sneer. Ava smirked and played the innocent act.
“Jeez what did I ever do to you?” Chanel rolled her eyes and stood up from the ground, pulling her tangled hair into a ponytail as she spoke.
“Where’s Katrina?” She said with a sigh.
“Just gathering supplies for our little outing.”
“What ‘outing’? I didn’t have anything planned for today, we have plenty enough supplies.” Ava sighed hopelessly at Chanel’s statement.
