♢♧●Even when they save your life, even when they sacrifice,

There are things that make us all selfish●♧♢Katrina cried in her sister's arms, still in disbelief of the fact she was still alive. Then she stopped suddenly, wiping her tears and looking into the room where her parents lay dead. Chanel followed her gaze, heart struck at the sight of death. However, she knew she had to stay strong, she had to do it for her sister. Little did she know all her sister wanted was for her to show some emotion. Chanel didn't cry, her eyes didn't water, they stay dry as a desert. She walked over to them slowly, looking over their bodies, and caught glimpse of something glistening in the sunlight shining through the window. A pocket knife, could come in handy. Chanel bent down and grabbed it, stuffing it in her pocket. She then placed her hands over her parents eyes, shutting them and saying a silent prayer. Katrina was disgusted, how could she just steal off their bodies?! She completely ignored the action of the prayer and such, too stuck on what her own mind found foul.
"What are you doing?! Just stealing off their bodies?! Do you have no respect!" Katrina shouted furiously. Chanel stayed calm, standing up and facing her sister on eye level.
"This knife could be handy in survival, they would want us to have it, along with that gun" she said, pointing to the gun Katrina had dropped on the floor.
"But-" Katrina went to rebuke, but Chanel wouldn't stand for it.
"I don't have time for your bickering Katrina! Do you want to survive or not! Just remember if it wasn't for me turning back, you'd be dead." Chanel stated, in a grave voice.
"And if you would have had us come here right away they might not be dead right now!" Katrina was on the brink of tears, once again, with this statement. Chanel sighed in frustration and picked up the gun behind Katrina.
"We've gotta go and I'm not letting you die." Chanel began to walk down the hall heading out the building, Katrina at first was reluctant to follow, but eventually decided against staying. When they were both outside Chanel was standing there, still as a pole, reviewing her surroundings.
"It'll be getting dark soon, we need to find shelter away from the city" she walked forward once again, Katrina following, only for the reason that she knew she couldn't survive without Chanel. As they walked on they came upon an abandoned store, a little larger than a corner store, which was away from the city. After a quick look around Chanel nodded and turned to Katrina.
"We're staying here, it's away from the city plus it has food and drinks." Katrina nodded, secretly excited for some food. She began to think about the Christmas dinner they would have been having right now if all of this didn't happen. Chanel tried not to think of it. They walked into the store, and it was still fairly full, didn't seem as if anyone raided it for supplies.
"I think we found a pretty good spot" Chanel said, a smile forming on her face for the first time since the explosion. Katrina smiled as well, she walked down the aisles and picked out some snacks and drinks.
"What luck" she said with a smile, Chanel looked to what she had picked out and took some of it out of her hands. "If we are going to survive we need to eat healthier than this, I mean come on three bags of Cheetos?" She said with slight sarcasm.
"You're acting like a few bags of Cheetos will kill me" Katrina said rolling her eyes at her sister. "A few bags won't kill you but just snack foods and nothing healthy will, we are going to have to be much more active Kat, you don't seem to get the severity of the situation." Chanel said, raising her voice a bit. What Katrina hadn't noticed was that Chanel called her 'Kat', her childhood nickname for her, for the first time in a while. That was Chanel's way in showing some sympathy, some kindness, but of course Katrina payed no attention.
"What do you mean 'Don't seem to get the severity'?! I'm not an idiot! We just saw our parents de-" Katrina broke off, she couldn't even finish her sentence without getting too emotional. "I hate you" she said with a shaky voice, and stormed off into the visible restroom of the store.
Chanel sighed and picked up one of the snacks she had thrown down, Funions, those were Katrina's favorite. She walked towards the restroom with the Funions and knocked on the door, "Kat?" It was quiet at first, Katrina was ignoring her just sitting in the corner of the room. When suddenly she screamed, and there was a sound of thuds against the walls.
Chanel jumped to action and went for the door but it was locked. She would have kicked the door but it looked too strong so she frantically looked around for something to use. "Kat unlock the door!" She yelled as she searched. "I'm trying!" She yelled as she kicked back the zombie she was attacking.
Chanel looked around 'Bullets there has to be bullets around here!' She thought, thinking she could shoot the lock. She went to the cash register, there was a dead body behind in surrounded by bullets and a gun, clearly having fought 'till death.
Chanel grabbed the bullets and quickly loaded the gun, running to the restroom and shooting the doorknob several times. She opened the door and saw the zombie, the noise had drawn its attention to her. It ran at her and she instinctively shot it in the head before it got too close, wincing at the loud sound and surprise it provided.
She sighed out of relief and looked to her traumatized sister, "Kat, you ok?" Katrina suddenly had a mad look and stood up furiously.
"I could have died Chanel! You almost let me die!" Chanel was now furious as well "So this is how you repay me for saving your life for the second time! I saved you, you are alive and that is all that matters" she said sternly. "Learn when to be grateful" Chanel spat and started to walk out of the restroom, stopping at the door. "Have your stupid Funions" she said, her back turned to her as she threw tossed it to her behind her back.Katrina looked to the Funions and grabbed them after Chanel walked away. "If you could save me why couldn't you save mom and dad.." she said looking to the ground with the Funions in her hand. Chanel tightened her eyes still turning her back to Katrina, "Be glad I didn't leave you behind" she said harshly then headed towards a storage room and found some blankets and grabbed some for herself, setting them to the side of the storage room.
"Get yourself some blankets and get some rest. I'll take first watch" Chanel said as Katrina got out of the restroom. She nodded and did as she said. "Close the door incase someone or something get's in" Chanel continued and walked outside with the gun, and the other one she found by the register as a backup, and some ammo. Katrina watched her walk outside then shut the storage room door, falling quickly asleep.
