A/N I feel like I go through times where I update way too frequently and then other times where my updates are way too infrequent, but I just publish stuff as soon as I write it.  That being said, I don't even spend time proofreading my imagines, so if you notice a typo, feel free to let me know so I can fix it and save myself from future embarrassment.

You sat in medbay organizing records. The task was tedious, but it had to be done. Today had been slow and unexciting, but you were glad that nobody had been injured so far.

A single crewmember's file was immense compared to all of the others, which were relatively thin. Curiously, you pulled it out, already sure of whose it was. Of course, it was Captain Jim Kirk's. You smiled to yourself thinking of Kirk, who had been your boyfriend for an entire year. Tonight was your anniversary. It was hard to celebrate in space, so you two were just planning to have dinner in Jim's room.

Sudden commotion interrupted your thoughts, letting you know that a landing party had probably just returned.

"Dammit Jim! How did you even manage to get hurt? The only things on that planet were rocks and clumps of dirt!" Doctor McCoy was shouting in the other room. You stood up and rushed out, worried about what you would see.

Jim was already on a bed, wincing in pain and clutching his arm. His yellow shirt was torn; his visible skin was sliced up and dripping with blood, which seeped onto his shirt as well, creating a dark orange color. You gasped and froze in the doorway.

"It looks like he's got a broken arm. Can you got get everything?" Bones turned to you as he gave you orders. You knew exactly what he wanted and went to find it immediately. You returned within a minute, carrying everything the doctor would need to put Jim's arm in a cast. As Bones began to work, you stood by Jim's head and held his hand, on his uninjured arm, obviously.

"(Y/n)," he smiled, "Happy anniversary."

"Happy anniversary, Jimmy. Did you have to pick today of all days to break your arm?"

"I wanted today to be special," he joked, ignoring the nickname you knew he hated.

"Well, you certainly succeeded," you sighed. He squeezed your hand slightly and winked at you.

"Don't you wink at me, Jimmy." You leaned in to kiss him on the cheek as he rolled his eyes. Bones grumbled and mumbled something about being disgusted, which you chose to ignore, as he finished up Jim's cast. He then walked out of the room and into his office, leaving you alone with the injured captain. You sat down on the side of the bed. It sank below your weight.

"(Y/n), I know this isn't ideal, and I'm sorry...but, we can still celebrate here," he said.

"Yeah," you said, pausing briefly, "And, in the future, can you at least try to keep from getting hurt? I was looking at your medical file today, and it's larger than any other crewmember's file is."

"I'm surprised at you, (y/n)...violating my privacy like that..." he said, shaking his head at you in fake disapproval, "But I'll try from now on." He wrapped his toned arms around your waist, and you leaned back against his torso, resting in silence for a few minutes.

"I love you," you finally whispered.

"I love you too," he murmured, "And I promise I will always come back to you in one piece. You won't have to worry about me anymore."
