i woke up the next morning and checked the mirror. the hickey was still visible. yeah and did i mention it's the first day back to school since thanksgiving break? guess not. i beat my neck with tons of concealer and foundation to hide it. hopefully it was enough. after i was done doing that and my real makeup, i headed downstairs to eat breakfast. i was running late so i grabbed a granola bar and ran out the door to the bus. there was katie and brennan standing there.
"are you guys excited for the first day?" i asked
"YES!!" katie yelled
"nah" brennan said unenthusiastically.
at this point i remembered the hickey and tried to be subtle about hiding it.
i put my hand over the area
"just beware about some teachers, they're cranky" i said
"yeah." katie said back "what are you doing?"
"what?" i asked
"why are you holding your neck like that?"
brennan looked up from his phone at this point
"...oh!! i guess i must've slept on my neck totally weird last night. it hurts really bad!!"
"ouch. try using two pillows" katie suggested
"yeah... that could be the problem" i lied.
the bus finally came, and since there was 3 people to a seat, i sat toward the window with brennan and katie. i said hi to all my friends i hadn't seen over break, and when i'd talk to my guy friends, brennan looked a little upset. i introduced people to brennan and katie, and people really seemed to like them.
"so, what are your guys classes?" i asked.
they both showed me their schedules
"i have 4 classes with you katie, and 2 with you brennan" i smiled
we pulled up to the school, when my friend gianna pulled me off to the side.
"who's that guy you're sitting with?!" she whispered
"his names brennan. he's new and my new neighbor"
"well he's hot!!!" she said back
i laughed at this. gianna has been one of my bestfriends since 1st grade, and she's always been a little boy crazy.
when i looked back, she was gone!! i searched the crowd of people, and finally found that she was flirting with brennan! this bothered me, and brennan seemed a bit bothered too, and i went over and pulled her away from him. he thanked me later on in the day.
it was lunch now, and i looked at my usual table, with people like gianna, alexa, and leah. they are like, my best school friends, and some people see us as the most popular in school. i looked around, and saw that brennan had found a table with all the popular guys already, so i didn't have to worry about him, and katie could sit with us. they wouldn't mind. i sat down and brought katie with me.
"hey guys!! this is my friend katie!!"
"hi katie!!" they said politely
they all introduced themselves and it seemed as if they instantly clicked
i started to feel guilty about not telling katie about last night with luke. i said i had to go to the bathroom and i told katie she had to come, which she obviously agreed to. as we walked down the hallway,
"katie, there's something i need to tell you"
"go for it" she said
"you need to promise not to say a word to ANYONE" i told her
"i promise"
when we came to the bathroom...
i wiped away some concealer and foundation from my neck.
"see this?" i said
"ANNIE!!!"
"shhhhhh! okay, luke invited me over last night to talk about stuff, and it turned into this!!!! but don't be mad about this part.... when everyone fell asleep the other night, brennan and i told each other we liked each other, and we kinda had a thing going. i like him not luke!! and if brennan finds out about the hickey, he'll hate me!!! but i needed to tell you because i felt guilty not"
"geez!! i had no idea!! but i'm not mad. i think it's cool! i won't tell brennan, and thanks for telling me" katie responded
we headed back to the cafeteria, i glanced at luke and his friends and quickly looked away. when we sat back down at the table, the worst thing happened
