Hogwarts is a Magical Place

Chapter 1

  Lily Hope Lovegood

It is my birthday, and we are at my aunt's house. I am here with my cousins, and Aunt Luna is very special. She has a mini tree decorated like our personalities. She has one for all of her children and nieces and nephews. Mine is an aqua blue tree with a silver garland, since I love the ocean so much. It also matches the aqua blue streaks at the bottom of my long blonde hair that I can sit on, and occasionally accidentally do. There are some purple streaks too, but mostly blue.

The ornaments on my half-sized tree are mostly horses and watercolor palettes. There are a few others, though. A painting of a horse on a 2x2 canvas that I painted, a pickle ornament that my dad gave everyone as a joke, a Hippogriff ornament my mom gave me with a cute little stuffed hippogriff for my 6th birthday.

My little sister Nova comes up to me with a letter in her hand. My heart starts beating faster. "Hi, Nova. What have you got there?"

"It's for Lily." She hands the letter to me. My cousin and best friend, River is sitting next to me, and I grab her arm. The envelope is addressed:

Lily Hope Lovegood
Dining room of her aunt's house
(Mac what is your address)
I break the seal. Unfolding my letter, I read:

HOGWARTS SCHOOL of WITCHCRAFT and WIZARDRY

Headmistress: Minerva McGonagall
(Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf. Warlock,
Supreme Mugwump, International Confed. of Wizards)

Dear Ms. Lovegood,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.
Term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.

HOGWARTS SCHOOL of WITCHCRAFT and WIZARDRY

UNIFORM
First-year students will require:
1. Three sets of plain work robes (black)
2. One plain pointed hat (black) for day wear
3. One pair of protective gloves (dragon hide or similar)
4. One winter cloak (black, with silver fastenings)
Please note that all pupil's clothes should carry name tags.
