Chapter 12

"Where were you guys?" River whispers as I walk into our room.

"We were walking. Please don't tell your mum. I was with Fox."

"Okay, I won't tell, but what were you doing?"

"We climbed a tree. I just needed to clear my head."

"Lily, you could have died."

"But I didn't." I hear a crack of lightning. "Ok, I'll be more careful next time." I know when River is worried or mad.

"So, what do you want to do?" Louis asks, obviously just waking up.

"I don't know about you guys, but I wanna eat breakfast," Lily says, hungry at the thought of food.

"Me too," I add.

"You're always hungry," she teases.

"Not always..." Lily looks at me pointedly. "Most of the time..." I correct.

"Exactly," She says.

"Pancakes?" I ask.

"Yes!" I hear three people simultaneously say.

"Pancakes it is!"

I make a triple batch of pancakes, since Lily, River, and Louis look like they are starving.

"They are ready!" I say, putting them on a plate and bringing them to the table. The four of us wolf the pancakes down like we haven't eaten in ages.

"So what should we do today?"

"We could go on a run," Lily suggests.

"Yeah!" I exclaim.

"Or we could go on a hike," River says.

"You go on a hike. Fox and I are running." Lily says.

"I hear there are some hiking trails around here," Louis says, trying to bring peace.

"Yeah! Let's go!"

"Fox, wait. I need some water," Lily says, taking a cup out of the cupboards.
"Well Louis and I are getting a head start."

"Right," Lily says and then takes a sip of her water as River walks out the door. Lily starts stretching, and I do too, so I don't injure myself.

"You can set the cadence," she says.

"Are you sure?" I ask, "I have a 7 minute mile."

"Yes. I have a 6 minute 45 second mile." Lily wiggles her eyebrows at me.

"You win. Now let's run!"
