Fox Chang

"Lumos." I light my wand. I find Lily laying on the floor, out cold. "Lily, Lily wake up!" I lightly slap her cheek.

She jolts upright and looks like she's about to pass out. "Woah, there," I say, pushing her back down gently, "You just passed out. Slow down."

That's when I notice a drop of blood on her forehead, and some of her silky, blonde hair red, and not from her changing the color. I take off the red shirt I'm wearing and start dabbing at her head. This is my favorite shirt, too.

"Fox," Lily says, ghastly pale. "How bad is it?"

"Your hair is red with blood. Don't worry," I crouch down beside her, "I got you, just relax."

I stand up and look around the place we fell into. Nothing but a bunch of cobwebs, it looks like it's been evacuated for years.

"Think you can stand up?" I ask Lily. She only nods in return.

I crouch behind her to help her sit up, pushing lightly on her back, then grab her waist and slowly stand up. I hand her my blood-drenched t-shirt for her to hold on her head. I feel her other arm around my shoulders.

"Mum!" I scream at the top of my lungs, "We fell through the floor in the basement!"

I hear footsteps on the stairs and see mum peer through the hole in the cobblestone floor.

"Fernando! What happened here? Why is there a hole in the basement? Why is Lily's hair red? WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE?!?!"

"Mum, I'll tell you later, but first, apparate down here, get Lily, and apparate to the kitchen." I'll get out myself, don't worry about me!"

I scoop up her legs as mum apparates down here. I give mum Lily and watch as she disappears to the kitchen.

As soon as she disappears, I see an old desk, with decades of dust on it. I push it under the hole. I get on the desk and grip the floor to help myself up. Once I get up, I run up the stairs into the front hall. When I get into the kitchen, I see Lily in a chair, still holding my shirt to her head.

Mum sees me, "Fox! There you are! Watch Lily while I go get some supplies from the hall closet."

She's back two seconds later, with a wraparound bandaid and some cleaning stuff and Neosporin. She also grabs a rag, wets it and throws me my bloody t-shirt, now a darker red with blood.

"Go wash the blood out of that shirt, before it stains," mum says while Lily tries to convince her that she's fine. I take a last long look at Lily, now paler than ever, and walk to the laundry room to wash my shirt out.

It seems to take forever. When I'm done, I hang it up to dry, then run upstairs to put on another shirt. I run downstairs, almost tripping on the bottom. Mum has her wand out. She has already cleaned up most of the blood and put some neosporin on it. I hear her mutter something and see her bloody hair turn silky blonde again.
