Fox Chang
I feel so embarrassed. It was last weekend, but it was so wrong of me to assume that she had feelings for Newt when all she wanted to do was be friends with him. Also, I've been better with Newt than ever before. Everyone has been getting on super. So today, I've invited Lily for lunch by the black lake. I hope she likes my surprise!
I get out of bed and throw on my signature red shirt but put on black swim trunks with flames at the bottom. I slip my yang necklace under my shirt. I stop by Ravenclaw tower on the way, waiting for her. She walks out, gorgeous as ever, in a yellow tank top with ruffled sleeves and blue jean shorts and yellow flip flops.
"Hey," I say lamely.
"Hey!" Lily answers.
"Ready?" I ask her.
"Totally!"
We walk down to the black lake and I sit under a tree. Lily sits beside me.
"We aren't going to get many more days like this, are we?" Lily asks
"Probably not," I answer. "Close your eyes Lily, I have a surprise for you."
Once her eyes are closed, I lean forward and peck her on the lips. She is surprised, but she acts way different than I expected. Lily stands up. She looks... nervous?
"Fox, I've been thinking," she mumbles, "can we just be friends? It hurts me to say this- to hurt you- but I've been thinking... aren'twetooyoungtodate?" She slurs the last part.
"No-" I say.
She cuts me off, "Fox, ask me out when I'm thirteen. Don't worry, you can wait that long." Lily gets up and pecks my cheek then takes off her tank top, pulls off her flip flops and her shorts and jumps in the lake. "Fox, come on in! The water's nice!"
I shrug off everything she just said and try to have fun. I pull my shirt off and jump off the dock near her, splashing her. Lily giggles.
"Splashing fight!" She declares.
When I get out of the lake, I think to myself that it might not be so bad after all, I can wait.
