Chap. 23 Explaining...

when red comes out side to see what's going on. he opens the door. they both heared the door and they both go in opposite directions. Red " what's going on? why are you guys in the pool?" it was quiet for a moment. Joan " nothing. every thing is..." she took a deep breath. she knew it wasn't just nothing. but it was probably better just to say so. Joan "... fine. it's... fine." red " that still doesn't explain why your in the pool." Abe " we'll tell you in the house. " Red "okay." Abe pulled himself out of the pool then helped Joan out. they both walked inside the house. they went into the living room with red following and sat on the couch. Joan began to shiver. Abe got up went to the bath room and got a towel for Joan. he got back and wrapped it around her shoulders. she grabbed and hold it around her shoulders were Abe left it. Joan " Thank you... Abe." Abe " no problem." once again it was silent for a moment. red " okay so why where you both in the pool?" Joan " I went went out in the back to try to think. I ran around the pool and slipped into the pool..." Abe " I tried to pulled her out but fell in." Joan laughed. Abe looked at Joan. Joan " what?" she said still laughing. she stopped. Abe " anyway. that's when you came out." red " oh. but Joan why did you run around the pool?" Joan " I was getting cold." red " oh." Red's phone suddenly rings. Red " just a sec. hello." he answers the phone. he finished his conversion and hung up. Abe "who was that?" Red " someone at the base asking a bunch of question." Joan " what kind of questions?" Red " prank questions." Red goes back to his phone to check for messages. Abe " Red gets prank calls every so often from someone at the base." Joan " why?" Abe " I don't know. but I do know it does get boring there." Joan " depending. it usually seems busy." Abe " it usually is. daily check ups can be tough sometimes." Joan " yea. no kidding. I've seen it in there. last time I saw one of the agents nearly get his head ripped off." Abe " oh. you mean Jeremy. yea well Shawn told him not to do that so. his own fault..." his voice trailed. they both stared at each other eye to eye. they both blushed. Red " hey! what's wrong with you two. hello." Abe and Joan " oh yes?" red " get a room you two." Abe and Joan laughed. red then left the room. Abe " shall I take you to your room?" Joan " yes." they both got up and walked to her room. Joan " would you come inside for a sec?" Abe " sure." they both walked into Joan's room and sat on her bed. Joan " I was thinking tomorrow you could help me with my new powers. you know help me control it." Abe " of course. it shouldn't be that hard." Joan nervously " great. then it's a date. I mean not a date. of course it's not a date. your just helping me. I mean it's not like I don't want your help. I really do... want... your... help. What the hell Is wrong with me? " Abe " and I'm going to help you like I said." they looked eye to eye again. they both leaned in. but Joan turned away. Abe " is every thing okay?"...
