Chap. 17 Home at Last...

finally they got back to the house. Liz saw them through the window and went down stairs to the door to meet them there. Liz "WHERE THE HELL HAVE BEEN?" Red " Liz please. we need to get Joan in side." Liz "what happen?" Abe "long story. come on Red." Liz opened the door wider for them to get in. Abe rushed past Liz. he got to Joan's room. he opened the door and went straight to her bed and layed her on the bed gently. Red followed along with Liz. Abe sat next to Joan on her bed and starred at her.

hours later she still didnt wake up. Abe was very worried. Liz "just so you know Red we're still going time talk about where you went." Red "fine by me." Liz "is she okay?" Red " yea? is she okay?" Abe wanted to burst into tears. Abe "I don't know. I hope she is. I don't know what I'd do if she wasn't." Red and Liz were sitting in chairs waiting with Abe. Red explained to Liz about some of things that happened, so she would understand. More hours past. Abe turned to Red and Liz. Abe "you two should probably get some rest." Red "what about you?" Abe "I'll be fine." Red stood up then helped Liz up. Red walked over to the door and opened it. Liz walked over to Abe and put her hand on his shoulder. Abe turned his head to look at Liz. She gave him smile. he turned back to Joan. Liz moved her hand to her side. And walked over to the door where Red was still waiting. And left. Red walked out and closed the door behind him.

Days began to pass. And days turned into weeks. And weeks turned into a month. With each passing hour Abe become more and more worried. He stayed by her side. He would only leave to work but would immediately go back to her side. But she still wouldn't wake. Until...

One day Abe came home and as usually went straight to her side. Abe "please wake up Joan. Please... I love you." Joan finally moved her hand and reached for Abe's. she then wrapped her fingers around his hand and with her thumb she rubbed the one side of his hand. he looked at her hand holding his and then at her. her eyes where finally open and she was okay. Abe "Joan." She sat up quickly. Joan "Abe." They hugged each other. Abe "I thought you would never wake up." Joan "I -I... I missed you so much." She began to cry on his shoulder as she squeezed him tighter. Not letting him go. He squeezed her tighter as well. Abe "it will be alright." She continue to cry.

They both let go. Joan stopped crying. Joan " I could heard you... in my sleep. What did you say?" They stared at each other for awhile. Abe finally spoke. Abe "I said... I love you." Joan "you love me?" Abe "Yes. I don't want to hold it back any longer. I love you." Joan "I thought you would never say that... Abe I love you." Abe "what?" Abe looked confused. Joan "I love you Abe. I wanted to say it sooner but... I thought-" Abe joins Joan as they say in unison "you wouldn't feel the same way about me." Joan gasped. "You really do love me." Abe "of course I do. I loved you the first time I laid eyes on you." She smiled and blushed. Her face was beet red. She couldn't believe what was happening. And what was about to happen. Abe came closer to her. Closer. Closer. Their faces less than a centimeter apart. Their lips so close to reach. Abe had made the final move and kissed her.
