Well, I got into the job that Harry signed me up for, probably because he works there too and persuaded them to accept me. And today is my first day at the bakery. Luckily tomorrow is my birthday (and Christmas Eve) so I don't have to work on that day.
I pull up my car into a parking space dedicated to staff, around the back of the bakery. I'm familiar with the place, as my mum goes there to buy bread for our breakfast and things.
I feel a pair of recognisable large hands clasp themselves over my eyes.
"Hey Boo." Harry says, taking his hands off from my eyes. I smile and turn around on my heels. "You're late on your first day?"
"I told you, I don't have a watch." I say and he grins, creepily widely. He takes my hand to show me around the place. I smile at how authoritive he is being around his work place. It's kinda hot if you ask me.
He eventually finished showing me around, which doesn't take that long because the shop was opening in 5 minutes.
"The owner won't get here for a few hours. He has something up in his family. So, I'll let you handle the first customer on your own and see how you go." He says, while flipping the sign on the door onto open. He walks back to me and places a quick kiss onto my lips.
About 3 or 4 minutes later, a middle aged man walks in and I give him a smile. "Hey, how can I help you?" I say as nicely as I can because I've honestly never had a job where I had to work with customers.
Scratch that, I've never had a job, period.
"Hey, can I get 3 chocolate croissants?" He asks and I nod, walking to the side and putting the croissants into a brown paper bag and handing it to him.
"That'll be $5.30." I say and he hands over the money. I put it in the register and give him back his change. "Have a nice day." He ends up putting 50 cents into the tips box and I thank him for it.
"You too." He says and walks out of the shop.
"How was it?" Harry asks, popping out from behind the wall. It almost gives me a heart attack because I didn't expect him to suddenly appear. "You did well for your first time."
"That could be taken in a very wrong way." I say and Harry looks at me in confusion, before realising and then his face drops.
He lightly punches my shoulder. "Oh god Louis stop."
"That's what he said." I continue and he punches my shoulder again. I laugh and plant a kiss on his lips. I still get butterflies from it, not even butterflies, the whole bloody zoo.
Our kiss is interrupted by someone walking in from the back door. I quickly step away from Harry to hope that they didn't see us but by the look on her face, she obviously did.
"Uh, sorry to interrupt. I think I'm sharing a shift with you today, wait Louis?" She asks and I look up to see her face and remember her as the girl from the zoo that helped us see the dolphins.
"You know him Jade?" Harry asks and she nods. She obviously quit her job at the zoo to work in the bakery.
"Yeah! Remember, I was the one who helped you get the dolphins on your date!" She exclaims and Harry's face lights up.
"That's where I remembered you from!" Harry says, enthusiastically and I chuckle.
"Well, as much as I'd like to sit and chat while you guys kiss and do whatever else you were doing..." A blush creeps onto my face and I see Harry's the same. Jade continues, "I have work to do."
"Same." Harry and I say at the same time. Turns out Jade works in actually making the bread behind the front counter and Harry and I help the customers.
"By the way Louis, nice YouTube video!" She says, giving me a thumbs up and walking to the back before I can complain about it. I sigh and turn to Harry.
For a little while, no one else comes so we both end up playing chopsticks on our fingers, which I end up winning after a very back and forth game.
After about half an hour, people start coming in at a steadier pace and more and more of them come in as the line gets longer.
I see why, I mean, who gets up at 6am to buy bread?
We end up getting a lot of people coming in between 9-12 o'clock, so many that we end up having to have a line queuing quite far across the bakery, which only attracted more people to want to buy stuff.
By 1pm, Harry's and my shifts are both over and we take off our badges and say goodbye to Jade, before walking back to the car.
"So, your birthday is tomorrow huh?" Harry says in a teasing manner because he said he's got some surprise planned. "I'm picking you up at 6pm. You can spend time with your family until then."
"When did you get so controlling." I joke, getting into the passenger's seat of Harry's car.
He shrugs his shoulders. "If you spend too much time with a person you end up attracting their personalities."
"Are you calling me controlling." I give him an overly-dramatic hurt face.
He chuckles. "Yes hedgehog, I am."
"Well fuck you too frog." I rebut.
"You know you want to."
"Ok, you definitely have been spending too much time with me." I say and we both laugh as he drives off back home.
