————————————————————(Vanoss POV)
"So what now?" I asked.I tried really hard to hide my nervousness, my sadness over Craig, who had to thing I was the worst person on the Earth, and how scared I was of the things which were ahead of me.
I was relieved that Craig was ok, still living and breathing, and I hoped Tyler had found him. The last thing I wanted was Craig being all alone.
"Upstairs."
I followed him up to the hall where I spotted 3 rooms. We ended up in one of them. Not anything luxury just an average bedroom. Mark pulled out the phone and called somebody.
"Hey. We have got him. Well it's complicated, it's Evan Fong. Yes.... ok."
He gave me his phone and leaned against the wall. I put the phone to my ear, not daring a breath.
"Hello?" I whispered nervously.
"Why are you lying to us, Evan Fong?"
The voice on the other line was unfamiliar for me. I knew for sure I hadn't heard it.
"I'm not lying," so answered steadily, feeling Mark's eyes on me.
"Isn't it quite convenient?" The voice said.
"What do you mean?"
"Ryan was killed by Tyler, that's what we know. Tyler killed Madison, that's what we know. You're not on the list. It makes sense that you're trying to protect your friends, and it's understandable that you think how big hero you're, but I'm being serious now. Bring me Delirious."
Think, Evan!
"Tyler and Craig are only my puppets. Do you think I would risk my identify killing someone so low as Ryan was? I'm the brain of everything. Do you think that I got all the money from my company? The image of me being rich is perfect camouflage, nobody suspect a thing. Besides I can get into any place I want with my prestige, without police being on my tail. And even if they found me, I have so much money to buy myself out and turned everything against them. Tyler and Craig are doing the dirty job, I'm killing the big fishes."
There was a longer pause, my heart racing so fast that I had a feeling it will jump out of my chest.
"I'm gonna repeat myself if that's what you want. You wanted Craig for Delirious, here I am. Now tell me what do you want from me."
"I'm not trusting you. You're the rich spoiled brat... but if you want to convince us that you're the one I'm going to give you a few tasks to do."
But why? Why does he want Delirious so much? What does he want from him? And who's he anyway?
"Let's say three tasks. I'll reveal the two others in time. Give me Mark, he'll tell you everything. And just one last thing. If you're lying to us, and trust me we will know it, I'm going to personally destroy you. You and everyone you care about."
I slightly nodded, even though he couldn't see it. I handed the phone back to Mark, watching him leave the room. Right at the moment the door shut, I pushed the button on my ear device.
"Tyler? Tyler, can you hear me?" I whispered so quickly, and waited a few seconds just to feel disappointment flew through me.
Fuck!
The door opened again and I jumped in surprise. Mark leaned against the wall again, piercing my soul. I got to admit, it was scary. Not in Delirious' scary way, but still scary.
"Alright. Your first task is steal one jewelry from the address I'm going to give you."
What?
"Steal? Isn't it a bit unnecessary? I mean it's gonna be so easy," I replied.
"Good that you think it's gonna be easy. We want that necklace in four hours, starting now."
What?!?!
"Wait! Four hours? But I don't have any tools for it, neither do I have my support from Tyler. Let me call him, he'll gather the info I need," I said desperately.
Mark laughed, then shook his head. He did a few steps towards me and handed me some paper.
"Look, even I can gather some information about people. Here's what you need to know about the place you're going to snuck into. And be aware of her bodyguards."
He turned himself again, and walked towards the door with intention of leaving again.
"Wait!" I stopped him.
"Can I do a quick stop at my house? I need a few things," I tried once again.
"No, I'm giving you a ride. Do whatever you want with those papers, prepare yourself, meditate, or whatever you're doing before going on the mission. I'll wait outside your room. And no, I won't return your phone anytime soon."
He closed the door behind him, leaving me alone.
Fuck me! This wasn't the best idea I could have come up with. Me stealing some shits? How can I even do that? They'll kill me for sure.
I looked at the paper with some information about the location I was going to be send in. My mind immediately started to think about the run away back up plan.
He said he was giving me a ride but he didn't say anything about going in with me. This is my chance. Once in the building I can run away. Where though? Craig? I don't want him to die. But Mark can kill Craig either way.
I stood up and took a deep breath once again. Determined to do anything for Craig's safety I left the room.
"That was quick," Mark mumbled.
"What can I say, I'm all nature."
I followed him outside to the black sedan where Jack was sitting in the driver seat.
"Stick to the plan, make no mistakes. Understood?"
"I'm not a fucking child," Jack responded frustrated, while I sat down.
"You're acting like one right now," Mark responded, and I felt so uncomfortable between them.
"Seriously, fuck you," Jack growled, while Mark laughed.
"I'm not returning what's mine. So stop trying, he's not coming back. I'm expecting your presence in three hours, Evan."
And with those words Mark shut the door and Jack started the engine. I looked out of my window just to see the empty alley way where Tyler parked when he drove me here.
This is a good sign. Craig is gonna be pissed at me but at least he's ok. And Delirious? He doesn't even care about me, he will never know about what am I doing for him. And me dying in a few minutes is the best solution for everybody. I hope one bullet can kill me, and I really hope that her bodyguards can aim properly.
