Never forget

Chapter Fifteen

As we reached the village I slid off of kirara almost falling over until Inuyasha grabbed onto my arm.

I stared up at him, he stared down at me worried but also happy. I stared at ema's body and started to pull her off and carry her on my back.

I probably looked awful since my body had cuts and scrapes while I was covered in ema's blood. Inuyasha tried to take her but I shook my head.

" I can handle it."

He rolls his eyes. " You idiot! you just got done fighting with her! you need to rest!"

I stared up at him with a sad look in my eyes. " Don't.......she-she died by my hands....just let me take care of it....."

As I walked off towards Kaede's hut I could see everyone coming to greet me until they stop to notice ema's body. They offered to help but Inuyasha stopped them from asking.

For a while Kaede helped assist me on cleaning ema up before we prepared her burial. She looked so peaceful with a small smile on her face. I cried silently to myself as I cleaned her up. Putting her in her original clothes that she came in.

When we were finished I told Kaede to put her on my back so I could carry her to the place where she would be burned.

When I walked out carrying her on my back everyone was starting to get  worried. It really pissed me off.

I turned around at all of them with a emotionless facial expression.

" Will you all please stop? I'm fine. And besides I owe this much to her.....considering she died with my blade....." I start to walk up the steps.

I yell over my shoulder as I get there half-way. " I don't want anyone up here during the ceremony! got it!"

Everyone just stares at me concerned and worried. Inuyasha looks more worried then anyone else.

As I placed her on the pedestal I quickly placed some wild flowers I found and lit the fire. I stood back watching it burn her body slowly. I'm sure that Inuyasha and the rest could see the smoke rising.

As I watched her body disappear I took her sword and placed it on me. staring at her body with no emotion, just emptiness.

" If anyone should hold your sword. I'll do it."

Slowly without realizing my knees buckled and I fell to the ground crying so hard that my chest hurt and I was gasping for air.

I pounded at the ground. " EMA! EMA YOU IDIOT! THIS WASN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN! I WAS GOING TO SAVE YOU! I WAS.....Going....to save....you!" My yelling died down and all I did was cry the whole time until her body was turned to ashes.

As I started to scoop her ashes into a vase that Kaede gave me I closed the lid and held it so close to my chest that I could've broken the thing. I started to make my way down the steps where there sat everyone, Inuyasha started running up the steps to me half way.

His eyes were so tense that it made me realize I was worrying everyone.

I forced a really small smile but my eyes simply told him I wasn't ready yet. He walked down next to me and said nothing.

As we all walked towards the tree that I would go to, I told everyone to not do anything. I started to dig the hole so it was deep enough in the earth.

I slowly placed the vase down carefully into the ground as though it was the most precious thing I would ever hold.  I could hear Songo crying as she watched me.

I grabbed her sword and with all my strength I forced it into the ground. standing back I kneel down and I say my prayers to her.

Everyone does the same once I open my eyes. And slowly as I looked up at the sword I saw her spirit smiling. It made me lose it.

I started to cry so loud that it shook my body. Inuyasha pulled me into him and just let me cry on his kimono, as he stroked my hair.

" Let's go Kagome." He whispered into my ear.

I didn't want to really.....but something felt like It was going to be okay.

As we started walking  I pulled myself away. " I can walk on my own." With that I suddenly felt light headed and fell to the ground rolling down the hill, Inuyasha reached the bottom and stopped me immediately.

" Kagome! what's wrong! are you hurt? sick? kagome!"

my head was spinning and that's when everything blacked out. The next thing I remember Is waking up to see inuyasha sitting right by me.

I smiled a little.

" Kagome? are you feeling better?"

I rubbed my head. " What happened?"

" because you over worked yourself, you blacked out when you fell down the hill."

I moaned. " yeah well I can feel it." I sat up and Inuyasha helped me.

" Easy, you don't need to rush things."

I smirk. " Isn't that what I'd always tell you every time you'd get an injury?"

Inuyasha blushes a little. " Whatever."

" But hey, I guess I kept your promise...didn't I?" I smirked sheepishly.

He rolls his eyes. " yeah.....just don't do stuff like that again, you nearly scared me to death Kagome!"

He looks into my eyes with a serious intent. I nodded. " Yeah, I know.....It just seemed right that I did everything....you know?"

He scratches his head and looks away from me.

I poked him and with a raised eyebrow, " So what is it you wanted to ask me exactly?"

His face goes completely red before realizing he said that earlier. " Well, Uh.....you see I ......Damn, why did I have to tell you that?"

I smile softly. He blushes a little and clears his throat. " Look.....I want you and I....to.....get married....I want to be with you for the rest of my life Kagome!"

I stare at him surprised and my face started to turn pink. " really?......I mean....really?"

He glares at me. " Well if your going to react that way then fine, I'll take it back!"

I grabed onto his arm, smiling at him softly. " Inuyasha.........I'm happy that you want to....ever since you told me your were born to be with me it's made me realize that my life wouldn't be this much fun and chaotic....as it is with you." I start to stand up slowly. " That's why I say, yes."

He stares at me shocked, then slowly smiles softly with that goofy grin of his....that's when I pulled him in closely and kissed his lips passionately. He holds me in his arms securely as I do in his.

Now I know this is what I want, fate just had to make a new design for me.....to lose is to gain.
