Chapter Ten

It was late when Ariella got to the Blackwell house hold; around nine when Lessers ate their dinner.

“Ari!” said Lavin as Ariella entered the kitchen.

Dorian was smiling, carrying her bag over his shoulder.

Ariella smiled. “Hey Lavin. How were things?”

“You missed the wicked mistress’s wrath today. Damn, I should have gone too but I didn’t want to leave Dorian here all by himself.”

“Awe, darn my luck, I miss everything good.” Ariella said, her tone smeared with sarcasm.

“You have all the luck!” said Lavin, making Dorian chuckle.

“And that’s why I became a manager.”

“Shut-up, Dorian. You’re nothing more then a pet for them.”

“Yes, a pet that does nothing but boss people around.”

They started down the stairs.

“What happened?” asked Dorian.

Lavin sighed. “Mrs. Biya does not like Mrs. Rosha’s mother Mrs. Lynette, and so as pay back she made us all suffer for it.”

“What did she do?” Ari asked.

“She made us wait for Mrs. Lynette hand and foot. She doesn’t drop a hair without making us pick it up, and we did.” She said, as Dorian gave Ariella her bag.

“Fun.” said Ariella, sarcastically.

“You bet. Oh, and Miss. Petra would like to see you.”

“I’m not aloud up stairs.” Ariella said, putting her things on the bed.

“Why?” asked Dorian, crossing his arms.

Ariella shrugged, taking her clothes out. “Dr. Blackwell said Mrs. Lynette had a Lesser. I might remind her of the girl and, so not to stress her, she shouldn’t see me.”

“Why, are you her?” said Lavin, with actual seriousness.

Ariella laughed. “I wish. No, I just look like her.”

“That doctor; sometimes I think that man’s crazy.”

“Me too.” Muttered Ariella.

“So, are you going to not listen to Miss. Petra?”

Ariella sighed. “Has Mrs. Lynette gone to sleep?”

“From what I know, yes.” said Lavin.

“What about Mrs. Biya and Dr. Blackwell?”

“Yep. Well, the Doctor is in his office but he’s always there, he doesn’t come out until the morning.”

“Isn’t that so strange?” Ariella sighed. “I guess I can sneak up there and see what she needs.”

“You might want to hurry.” Lavin said. “She’s been calling down here every five minutes, I swear.”

“Gosh, she’s a pain in the ass.” said Dorian rolling his eyes.

“She’s not that bad.” said Ariella.

“Yes, yes she is. You haven’t been here all weekend and since Lavin’s been with Rosha I’ve had to do Petra’s dirty work. It’s been hell.”

Ariella smiled. “Well, I can’t really help her this week I’m on kitchen duty. So, I’m sorry but you’re going to have to keep fetching stuff for her.”
