Chapter Eleven
“Are you okay?” asked Lavin; the next day in the morning.
“Mm, yeah.” said Ariella. “I’m just really tired.”
Lavin nodded. “You’re eyes are red.”
“Allergies.”
Lavin knew she was lying but didn’t say a word.
“Hey, girls.” said Dorian, sitting down.
“Hey.” They said, in unison.
“Wow, you guys make me feel so special sometimes.”
Lavin smirked, and muttered something under her breath, making Dorian roll his eyes.
“So, I finally get to go out with you guys today.” He announced.
Ariella mustered up a fake smile but didn’t say anything Not because she couldn’t or she was angry, but because she just couldn’t. It was like her body just didn’t care, and her mind was somewhere else. Her mind was with Blake, in the sky, with his tears falling.
“Are you crying?” asked Dorian softly.
“Huh?” She said, snapping out of her daze.
She touched her cheek where a lone tear was tracing down her cheek. “Oh, um. Yeah, I was just thinking.”
They looked at her with concern but they knew she wouldn’t talk about it. They never talk about their problems.
Ariella sighed, wishing that she had kissed him. Just once, for one second, would have made this okay.
Lavin and Dorian talked to each other, trying to bring Ari into the conversation but she just couldn’t focus.
“Westerson’s are coming to dinner on Friday next week.”
“What?” asked Ariella, snapping out of her trance.
Lavin nodded. “It’s for Petra’s engagement, to make it official so that’s why they made an exception for the whole no outside visitors rule.
Ariella sighed.
She couldn’t be sure it was a good thing or a bad thing. On one side, there was the fact that she would see him again, when he was sure she would (which is ridiculous to think since they are engaged) on the other was that she was going to see him again, when he probably never wanted to see her again in his life.
Why did that hurt so bad? Why did this all hurt so bad? She didn’t know what was wrong with her. There was just his giant weight in her chest that made it hard to breath, and move, and it made her want to cry her eyes out. Well, that would be if she had any tears left soon. She though she might run out of them soon enough with how much she’d cried last night.
Ariella let out a shaking breath. “Where are we going today?” She forced, herself to ask Lavin.
“I was thinking a good walk around the East Side to get sometimes would be good for us. We haven’t seen a lot of people in a long time. You’re still pretty new so I should introduce you to some friends.”
Ariella nodded.
“Oh good, I need to get a couple things.” said Dorian. “I haven’t gone out in a month.”
