Derek:
"Where is she heading?!?" I drew my arm back and slashed at the tree branch. "Well where ever she's heading she's making it really difficult to find her." I took a deep breath and looked at the sky. "You may not want me to find you but I'm gonna. Whether you want me or not." I could feel my eye lids droop. I let out a sigh. Now wasn't a good time to sleep. This was when those savages come out. Images of Gwen's injured back in the infirmary played in my mind, the way her back arced when they tried to take out the bullet. It sent shivers down my spine just thinking about it. But I haven't slept for days, I was bound to collapse if I didn't get some rest. I reluctantly climbed up the only tree I could see and rested my back against the trunk. I was in the highest branch and hopefully nothing would happen to me. I took a shaky breath and looked at the night sky. "Screw it. Just go to sleep man."
I woke up to the sound of scratching. I looked down and saw them, it was never safe with them around. I heaved a sigh and crawled up into the next branch, I twisted my body around and saw a tree not that far away. "If i just..." I thought of doing something stupid and crazy but... It was crazy enough that it just, might work. I took a deep breath and jumped, my muscles tensing and finally relaxing as I flew threw the "THIS IS CRAZY!!" I could feel myself falling through the air. I saw it, a branch that seemed to stick out from the rest of the tree, perfect. I had no reaction time but my body seemed to know what to do. I felt myself crash into it and I felt my body slipping and I slapped a hand onto the branch, and felt something penetrate my skin. I winced but scrambled upward. "Nice job, They're STILL following you. That was a greaaat plan. What are you going to do now?" Well, there was only one thing to do now, if they were eventually going to get to me, then I might as well come after them.
I jumped down from the tree I was in and slammed to the ground in a crouch. I felt pressure shoot up my ankles, and stood up slowly, drawing out my handgun. I saw them whip their tangled heads of hair and veiny eyes around. I aimed for their hearts but I stopped dead in my tracks, "No, no it CAN'T be. There's no WAY. He's dead, he's not alive anymore just do it." I felt my finger twitch on the trigger, I couldn't do it, I couldn't pull the trigger, not with her eyes staring back at me. I jammed the gun back in my sack and took off running. There was no way I was going to pull the trigger. My chest was heaving upi and down, my heart beating loudly like an engine inside the machine called a body.
"Not her eyes, his eyes Derek. He had them first. HIS."
