Cookies

The first one to come in was your mother and sister.
Your mother had been obviously crying but was smiling with Jennifer
"I'm so glad you're awake," mom said, trying to be happy.
"I am too." You said sitting up
"About Jimmy, I'm so sorry I told you the way I did." Mother said
"It's...okay." You give your mother a tight hug and she rambles on about how scared she was.
"Do we know who shot him?"
"Yes...it was your father." Your mother said looking down
You thought for a minute about your father and how you had beat him yo in the Starbucks that day.
You thought about Denis dragging him to the lake naked
"Oh my god, I think I killed my brother." You thought
"Was he doing all of this because I beat his ass?" You thought
"Or because of the phone call I had with his lawyer?"
The possibilities were endless, but nothing of those compared to the death of a family member.
"Where is he now?" You ask
"The Funeral is tomorrow. He's going to be cremated, he always talked about being cremated because he wanted it to be like Anakin from Star Wars." Jennifer chuckled a bit but you could see that she was hurt the most. He was her best friend and they did everything together.
Your mother ruffled your hair.
"Denis is waiting outside. Well let him see you."
You hugged them both and they left the room, Denis following in.
He ran to your side and sat on the edge of the bed.
"I'm so glad you're okay."
"Yeah."
The conversation was a bit awkward,
"I got my house back, but if you want me to stay at your place for a bit I'd be happy too."
He kind of hinted that he wanted to stay with you.
"Id love that." You smiled and hugged him.
The nurse walked in again and began taking the rest of the wires and things off of you.
"Congratulations, young lady, you're free to go home." She said with a smile.
She handed you your clothing that had been washed and neatly folded.
"Uh...I'll let you do your thing. I'll see you later,okay?" Denis said walking out.
You smiled and nodded in return and changed into your clothes.
When you walked out, you saw Denis signing you out and no sign of mom.
"Where's mom?"
"She was called into work. She took Jennifer too."
"Huh. That's a bit odd. Okay"
The nurse at the front dust spoke. "And your relationship to Ms. l/n?"
Denis blushed for a few seconds, then spoke,
"Uh...Boyfriend." He didn't look at you but your butterflies flew around like they were on crack.
He took your hand and dragged you out of the hospital and opened the car door for you like a gentleman.
"Awh thank you." You said
"For what?" Denis looked confused,
"Uh, opening the door?"
He gave you a weird look.
"Every man should do that for a woman, what guys have you dated?" He said smiling.
"Apparently, boys with no manners, nobody ever held the door for me," Denis laughed and walked around the car to the drivers seat.
"I'm going to take you home, I've really got to upload, i havnt in days." Denis said.
"What? Why?" You were curious
"Because I was waiting your you to wake up!" He looked at you like you were stupid.
"YOU WERE AT THAT HOSPITAL FOR FIVE DAYS STRAIGHT?!" Your jaw dropped but Denis nodded like it was no biggie,
"Holy hell..." you mumbled.
When you got home, he held your hand all the way up the stairs and when you got to your room, he kissed you again, out of the blue. For no reason.
You felt like a princess. There was something about him you just loved, who knows what it was.
  He pulled back from the kiss and smiled
  "I'll be back later." He said goodbye and left out your balcony
You were sad to see him go, but you sat in your bed and thought about Jimmy again.
"I think it was my fault that he's gone," you thought flipping through pictures on your phone of him,
You began to cry again.
It felt weird not having his arms wrapped around you. He was always there when you cried.
There would be nobody there to joke about your messy bed hair
There was nobody there to scream in your face to wake up.
Life would be so much different without him,
After all of this, the last thing you said to him was asking him a homework question.
  You didn't even get to say goodbye.
   More tears fell down your face. Then you got a text.
Sophia: Hey! Heard that you woke up! Can Kermit and I come over?
You: sure. Be here soon!
Sophia: k. Picking her up now.
Maybe that's what you needed. A distraction. Some friends and stuff.
They were here faster than you thought.
"Oh my god this place is beautiful!" You heard Kermit say,
"Yeah it's great." Sophia replied.
They came in and opened your door.
"Heyyyyy!" Kermit said, walking over and hugging you
"Heyyy girl!" Sophia said and did the same,
"Hey guys.,"
"So what's new?!" Sophia asked
You decided it wouldn't be best to talk about Jimmy just yet.
"Oh nothing...just here by my own," you said
"Lets make cookies!!!" Kermit exclaimed.
Sophia nodded her dead rapidly!
" yeah! I know a great recipe for some bomb chocolate chip cookies!" She said
"Yay! And my kitchen is perfect for it!" You exclaimed and clapped your hands. You felt better already.
  1 hour later, the room was covered in flour, sugar etc, but the cookies came out nice! 🍪
"These are great, like, the best I've ever had." Kermit said, eating her 3 red one.
"Definitely." You reply, eating another one.
"Agreed." Sophia exclaimed, pretending to worship hers.
"Alright lets clean this place." You said, grabbing the paper towels and windex.
For some reason, cleaning was actually fun for once. It was filled with a whole bunch of giggles, smiles and jokes, then the door opened.
"What the hell?" Denis said, walking in.
"Ya, what the hell?" Sophia said, confused.
Oh my god, I forgot to tell Sophia that Denis was living with us,
"Oh, hey Sophia."'Denis tried to smile.
"Hi," she replied coldly. "Why are you here, "
You made a quick motion with your hands indicating that she didn't know,
"I...I uh...I do small favors for Y/n mom. Just small things like fixing stuff and stuff." Denis stuffed his hands in his pockets.
Sophia raised an eyebrow and was about to say something but was interrupted.
"Hi, Denis! You're Braden's best friend, right?" Kermit asked.
"Oh yeah, you must be Adriana."
"How did you know?"
"Cork talks about you sometimes," Denis said
Kermit turned a bright red color and giggled
"Is she okay?" Denis asked.
"Uh, yeah, she got a crush on Corl." You said, rubbing her back.
"Oh, okay well, I'm going to uh...go upstairs!" Denis said awkwardly.
"Yeah, you do that." Sophia said, giving him the stink eye.
Once Denis was long gone
"I'm telling you, girl, that boy is bad news." Sophia said,
Denis pov.

I was going to go upstairs and edit, but I heard Sophia talking about me and I turned around to listen.
No Denis, that's snooping, keep walking. But I didn't. Stupid me.
"I'm telling you girl, that boy is bad news." Sophia said.
"Yeah I'm gonna have to go with Sophia on this one, she's my friend aspens she never lies," Adriana said,
"Wow. That kinda sucks, I really like him. "
I smiled
"Yeah, but that's how he gets you in the loop, he'll do that, and then he'll hurt you, real bad. I don't want you getting hurt," Sophia said
I can't believe she said that! I would never do that! Ever! I'm a good guy! I kept listening,
"I don't know, he is really sweet." She said,
I smiled again.
The conversation volume got really low and I couldn't make out any words so I went upstairs, I hope she likes me, because I like her, a lot.
