I had just arrived at the front of the school where Olive and Rebecca were waiting for me. "So I guess Alec isn't walking with us.." Becca blurted out as soon as I came into her sight. "No, he has football practice, but he is going to sneak over later." I replied. "Aww goals, anyway what are we doing about clothing and are we staying the night at your place because if so then we need to go by our places to get clothes." Olive asked. "My aunt should be home so we can take her car, and stop bye your houses." I informed them. Rebecca gave me a curious glance "One more question. Is Alec staying the night too?" She questioned me raising her eyebrows to emphasize what she meant. "Omg, it is sooooo not like that, there is nothing between me and Alec." I told them emphasizing the so. "And nothing like that will ever happen between me and him, Becca." I said becoming mildly frustrated with the both of them, and it was kind of triggering my anxiety which I was currently taking meds for, I wish sometimes my friends would not push me this far. I know that they don't unsterstand that it causes me harm, but it really does. Which was another reason I wish that they would have ditched me just like everyone else had after the accident, because of all the rumors that had been spread.
"Skylar, are you ready to start walking to your place?" Olive questioned me giving me a concerned glance, snapping me out of my daze. I tended to daze off a lot when I felt that I needed to escape and just think. "Yeah sure, sorry about that." I mumbled partly to myself and partially to the others. I apologized about a lot since the accident, because I believed the accident was my fault so I was constantly apologizing to my aunt. I blamed myself for their deaths, I felt the need to apologize to my aunt because I felt that I had killed her sister. Everyone told me it wasn't my fault, that's okay because I knew the truth which was that it was my fault.
I didn't live that far from the school, maybe five or six minutes at the most walking. On the way to my house we discussed what our planes were and how we were gonna leave and if we we were telling our parents. "What are we gonna do until Alec gets there?" They asked coming to the relization that we had to include him in our planning, then they turned and gazed at me expecting me to know the answer. "I'm not sure we could play uno, or something. I hadn't thought about that. Because we will have at least 2 hours before he arrives. Maybe we could go get food for when he does show up and so we won't be starving." I announced to them, we were now about a block away from my aunt's house. "Okay, well we better decide quickly because we are almost to your aunts house, and we can't talk about him coming over around her." Olive announced giving me and Becca a polite genuine smile. I wish I could genuinely smile like they did but I can't, if I ever smile it's usually fake. After she finished her sentence, before we could even reply, a gray ford truck pulled up next to us and stopped. There were two guys seated in the front seat and it looked like a younger boy in the back seat. The guys in the front seat looked to be in their early twenties and they looked almost identical. They must have been brothers, the one in the back looked to be about 18. They all had the same wonderful luminous hazel eyes, their eyes were the ones that contained a lot of mystery, enough that could make your soul get lost in them. "Do you guys need a ride?" They asked politely with genuine smiles, while the boy in the back looked completely uninterested I saw the same brokenness in him that I saw in myself. I glanced at Olive and Rebecca with a concerned look, but their faces didn't mirror the emotion that was displayed on mine. I guess they were able to see the good in theses strange new boys we had never before seen in our life. Before I was able to turn around, to the boys in the truck, I heard a very loud and clear "Sure" leave Rebecca's mouth. I gave her a confused look, and she just shrugged her shoulders at me I hated when people did that it honestly bothered me, like why not just use your mouth and speak. Wasn't that the purpose of having a mouth I just rolled my eyes at her. "Alright then climb in the backseat." The boy in the passenger seat said with a polite look in his eyes. I opened the door and the younger boy slid all the way over to allow room for me and my friends to enter. I climbed in next to the boy with the broken look in his eyes, then Becca followed, and finally Olive was seating, closing the door behind her. "Ummm, so thanks for the ride, I guess.." We told the boys, in an attempt to break the awkward silence. "No problem, so where are you trying to get too?" The driver asked. Before I could stop myself I blurted out "Home. It's actually right around the corner, by the way." "Cool, we are actually new to town,we moved into this neighborhood a few days ago. We wanted to be kind and give you guys a ride because we need friend. We usually don't do this." The boy in the passenger seat said, he looked like he was the oldest. "If you knew who I was you wouldn't want to be my friend." I accidentally blurted out unable to stop myself. For the first time since we got into the car the boy with the broken eyes spoke "And why not? I don't see anything wrong with you." He glanced at me looking me up and down. "Don't worry about why, just trust me. I mean if you really want to know ask around." I snapped, who is he to judge me like that I know he saw the brokenness in me that I saw in him. "I think I will, what's your name?" He asked glaring at me. Not wanting to answer but feeling obligated too I said "It's Skylar. And now that you know mine I think you should tell me yours." He leaned closer to me, close enough to feel his breath on my skin, which sent goosebumps along the skin on my neck when he whispered. "I'm Ryan, it was nice to meet you Skylar." I glanced up at him, he now had a cocky expression on his face. This was the first time I had gotten a good look at his face, he had dirty blonde hair, luminous hazel eyes the same as his brothers although his had a bit of brokenness, and I might as well say a very sharp jawline. I deeply felt the need to get to know him more. He noticed me staring and quickly turned away wanting to not let me see to much, possibly not wanting me to spot his brokenness that I noticed the first time I saw him. I looked back at Becca and Olive they were talking away with the boys in the front seat, giving directions to my aunt's house. I had completely forgotten that that was where we were heading, we're just about to pull into her driveway. "Thanks for the ride.." I said gratefully. Just then I felt a hand slip into my pocket. It was obviously Ryan, he had slipped a piece of paper into my pocket it was probably his phone number. I decided to act as if I hadn't felt it. Olive and Becca were jumping out of the truck, I was about to follow, but just then someone grabbed my wrist. I turned to see Ryan "Please read it and don't just throw it away." He said with a desperate look in his eyes. I just quickly nodded and jumped out of the truck, not wanting my friends to wonder what was taking so long.
