Taylor got out of her private jet and hopped into a black SUV that had been waiting for her. She pulled her phone out of her purse to text Karlie that she had arrived safely in London. She was excited for her performance in VS Fashion Show 2014, mostly because Karlie was in it and there was nothing that she'd love more than sharing a stage with her girl. Her phone pinged right away as Karlie's reply came. Taylor smiled at her phone screen, wondering when a simple text message from the beauty blonde would got old. Probably never.
So glad you're finally here!!! Can't wait to see you tonight at rehearsal, babe!! It's a busy day and I'm a nervous wreck :( i miss you so much and i wish you could come along with me :((
Taylor frowned when she read the last part of Karlie's text. She knew that feeling very well, not being able to be in each other company without raising suspicions. Karlie was probably doing interviews and visiting a lot of sponsors and endorsements with the other girls until the time for rehearsal. She had a couple of thing in her agenda as well, so there was no way she could be with Karlie to support her.
Aww, I know it sucks, babe. Don't worry, you'd do just fine tomorrow! Like you always do, angel :)
A girlish giggle escaped her lips while she tapped on several kissing emoticons to wrap up her text, prompting a curious glance from her agent. She arched an eyebrow at Taylor, knowing too well who's the recipient of Taylor's message. Taylor ignored the blatant disapproval on her agent's face and clutched her phone close to her chest as she waited for Karlie's reply.
I'm not actually worried about that. I'm freaking out because tomorrow would be the last time I walk for VS and I don't think I could deal with that :(
"Wow, I think it's an actual meltdown we have over here," Taylor muttered under her breath. Then she glanced at her agent, who was still eyeing her suspiciously.
"Tree, do you have Karlie's itinerary for today? Could you find like a free 5 minutes in our schedules?"
"Taylor, I don't think it's a good idea," her agent disagreed.
"It's a nonnegotiable. Just do it." Taylor closed the conversation by turning her gaze toward the passenger window.
"Fine."
***
Taylor knocked twice on the door before she opened and popped her head into Karlie's changing room. Karlie turned her head to see who dared to disturb her rest and squealed happily when she found Taylor there. She skipped towards the door and pulled Taylor into a warm bear hug.
"You're here! I thought I wouldn't see you until the rehearsal!"
"Well, I've pulled some strings to see my favorite girl," Taylor smirked smugly.
"Thank you for being here," Karlie rested her head on the crook of Taylor's neck. "I really need this."
"You know I'd do anything for you, Klossy." Taylor said lovingly while rubbing Karlie's back.
"I know," Karlie's voice came muffled as she buried her face in Taylor's warmth.
Taylor untangled herself from the reluctant Karlie, who complained with a cute groan. "We probably have only like ten minutes, so why don't you start telling me what's been bothering you?"
She left her guitar case on the floor and grabbed Karlie's hand. Taylor led them to the sofa at the corner of the room and kept their hands intertwined as they spoke. Karlie looked calmer when she told Taylor how her last walk for Victoria's Secret Fashion Show this year made her felt unsettled and second guessing the choices she had made. It felt like an end of an era. Taylor nodded understandingly as Karlie poured her fears and doubts, while rubbing the back of Karlie's hand with her thumb. She understood Karlie's concerns as it mirrored her own when she decided to take the risk with her 1989 album.
"I know it's scary and it feels like you're leaving behind something important as you moving on with other adventures and plans. I think you made the right choice by exploring other options and trying different things after this. I just want you to know that I'll be right behind you for every steps and turns you'd make. You're not alone in this journey. I'll be there every step of the way."
Karlie rushed forward to hug her girlfriend, silently thanking her lucky star for this wonderful person in her arms. She started sobbing as it was all just too much. Taylor kept whispering encouragements into Karlie's ears as they hugged. After a while, they finally pulled apart and Karlie laughed uncomfortably as she wiped her tears with the back of her hand.
"Ugh, I'm sorry. I'm a mess."
"No, you're not. You're just perfect, Sunshine," Taylor cooed affectionately, while wiping tears from Karlie's cheek with her thumb.
"Aww, you're so sweet, baby." Karlie said with a smile. "Okay, enough about me. How was your flight? How did the interview go?"
"It was all right. It is really gloomy outside though."
Karlie chuckled. "It's London, silly. What do you expect?"
Taylor grinned at her girlfriend. She finally made her girl laughed again, she noted. She had always liked the way it sounded, genuine and still carried the shyness from Karlie's awkwardadolescent phase.
"You're right. But I know just the perfect way to bring up the sunshine again."
Taylor got up from her seat and picked up her guitar case. She pulled out her favorite acoustic guitar and started to strum some chords. She played the bass line intro of the perfect song for this moment. Taylor ignored Karlie's curious gaze and cleared her throat before she started singing.
"I've got sunshine on a cloudy day. When it's cold outside I've got the month of May."
Taylor circled around the room as she sang, while Karlie followed her around with her eyes. Karlie laughed and clapped when Taylor busted out her silly moves, dancing around the room with her guitar. Then Taylor jumped onto the coffee table, pretending to be on stage.
"I guess you'd say. What can make me feel this way?"
Taylor dropped to her knees and leaned closer toward Karlie, who was standing in front of her.
"My girl. Talkin' 'bout my girl"
At the end of the song, Taylor turned her head to the side. Then she tapped one side of her cheek, asking for a kiss from Karlie. Shaking her head in amusement, Karlie obliged and dropped a sweet kiss on Taylor's awaiting cheek.
"I love you, you dork."
Taylor grinned and started strumming her guitar again. She was playing one of her own now. Struck with inspiration, Taylor decided to change the lyrics to fit the situation better. There was nothing like the adoring look on Karlie's eyes to keep her creative juices flowing.
"'Cause I love that spot on your cheek," Taylor stopped strumming to tap her forefinger against the beauty mark on Karlie's cheek.
"And I love that smile when you speak. And I know that you're an angel sent from Heaven's above."
She pulled her hand away from her strings again, tapping the tip of Karlie's nose.
"You'd be just fine. Oh, my heart is yours."
And don't you worry your pretty little mind,
People throw rocks at things that shine,
But they can't take what's ours,
They can't take what's ours,
The stakes are high,
The water's rough,
But this love is ours.- The End -
