ACT I - THE BEGINNING

She had trouble written all over her the moment Karlie saw her. Just from a single look, Karlie knew that she was going to steal her heart. Nobody could ever deny that face, that smile. She walked toward Karlie, with the air of confidence and she was almost like shining brightly. As she came closer, Karlie prayed silently to whomever up there. Please, not her. Don't make me fall for her.

Funnily, it was all started at the soccer field, right after Karlie's practice. It was like that one scene in the movies, where the head cheerleader's eyes fell on the star quarterback and she decided right then that he would be hers. The problem was the characters were all wrong and the story was all messed up. Two girls' paths crossed and then crashed for one of them.

Karlie was gulping water from my bottle. Sweats were dripping like crazy all over her and she was almost sure that she smelled. Bad. That's why Karlie almost choked to death when she saw Taylor, the head cheerleader walked toward her with a friendly smile. She was wearing her cheerleader uniform and her hair was in a cute long ponytail. Karlie didn't know what to do aside from looking at Taylor with a startled look on her face. They were not in the same clique and had made little to none contacts thorough their two years in the same high school. There was absolutely no reasons for Taylor to come say hi to Karlie now.

"Hey," Taylor greeted, still sporting that dashing smile of hers. "Karlie, right?"

"Yup, that's me," Karlie replied, still wasn't sure what's going on.

"Sorry for walking into you randomly. I was watching you played and thought that you were great."

"Umm, thanks?"

"I just thought that it's weird that we never talked, so," Taylor grinned sheepishly, "Hi."

"Hi," Karlie returned the adorable smile and waved a little.

When Taylor didn't go back to her friends, Karlie thought that she'd better say something. It was getting awkward. Karlie gathered her belongings, while talking to the awaiting Taylor.

"You just got out of cheerleading practice?"

"Yeah," Taylor perked up again. "Coach moved our schedule from every Tuesday to every Thursday. So I guess we're going to see each other a lot from now on."

"Ah, I see." At least now Taylor's sudden presence made a little sense. "That's awesome."

The other cheerleaders were looking their way. It wasn't a hostile look, but confused and impatient. It seemed like they were waiting for Taylor. Karlie noticed and nodded toward their way.

"I think your friends are waiting for you."

Taylor looked behind her back and found her friends were motioning at her to come back there. Taylor just waved her hand and shouted, 'Go ahead, guys!' When she looked back to Karlie, she gave her an apologetic smile.

"Sorry for that. I didn't know they were waiting for me. They are going to the Tizy and I don't feel like coming."

"Ah," Karlie just nodded along. She already had her bag on her shoulder and a towel draped over her neck. "So you going home? Want me to wait for you?"

Taylor beamed. "If you don't mind, that would be great. I just need a minute to fetch my things."

"Sure," Karlie started to walk toward the cheerleading practice spot. "I'm not in a hurry."
