Three years ago, October 20

"Honey your home! Dinners almost ready," my mother says to my brother Sean.

"Mom this is my fiance Opal."

"Nice to meet you, what a lovely name, and look at you, a beautiful one too."

"Mom don't scare her, she's new here."

"Sean don't worry I'll make her right at home."

By now I'm jealous, my mom just met this girl and approves her right away. She doesn't even know if she's rude or self-centered. My mom, Sean, and I'm guessing Opal walk in. She's very pale, an oval face, about 5'1, and she has luxurious brown hair that falls down her back, and, she has blue eyes. Everything my brother has always wished for. My mother goes into the kitchen, and everyone follows. My father, and my little sister Hana, are already seated. I go for my seat next to my brother, but Opal gets there first, and mom sits down in her seat.

"Mom where am I going to sit?" I ask.

"You can get a chair out of the attic, and bring it down here."

I climb up the stairs and open the attic door. Searching for the extra chairs, I pass a mirror. Though it's dusty I can still make out my, bright green eyes, dark blonde wavy hair, and the small moon birth mark hidden behind my hair. Compared to Opal I feel anything but beautiful. I finally find the chairs, and go back down the stairs to the kitchen. Everyone else has already started to eat, the lords prayer already said. I get my plate and place my chair next to my fathers. I look around the table and see that there's no lamb on the table.

"Mom is there any lamb left?"

"Sorry, but Opal was very hungry, she had a long carriage ride, so I just gave her yours. I knew you wouldn't mind, plus you've gained some weight, and you can't get a husband by looking like that."

My face burns, I look down at my lap, I can't belive my mother just treated me like that. First she gives my food to Opal, then she insults my weight. I'm not even chubby. I get the remaining food on my plate, and start eating it.

"So Opal, you can take Selenes room, and Selene can take the couch. Is that all right with you?" My mom asks Opal.

"Yes, that will be fine, and I'm very grateful for this dinner, and for a room to sleep in." Opal replies in a high class voice.

"Opal, when you and Sean get married, you will be the oldest girl in this household, which means if me and my wife would die, you would be the lady of the house. That also entitles you our fortune." My father says.

Now my blood is boiling, the house is exposed to be mine, the land for me and my husband when I get married.

"I thought I'm was going to be the one who owns the house, once I'm married." I question my father.

"Now, that was before Sean got a fiance." My mother replies. I explode.

"Ever since she got here, you have gave Opal everything of mine! She's replacing me. Was this your plan all along? You finally have the daughter, you've always wished for!" I shout at my mother.

"That is enough Selene! We have a guest!" My mother yells back.

" So you don't deny it. Mother of the year." I yell and get up from the table. I run out of the house, into the pouring rain, and into the woods near my house. Tears stream down my face, but I just keep running and running until I trip and fall on my knees. I sit there for forever, until I hear a stick break. "Sean don't even try to bring my spirits up," I say. I turn around, and it's not Sean, it's an old lady.

" Now why is a beautiful girl like you crying?" The old lady asks.

"My future just got ruined." I reply. Then I start telling her the whole story.

"What are you going to do?" The old lady asks.

"I don't know. I just wish my brother had never met her, I wish I found true love before him."

"That can be arranged. I'm a witch, and your wishes are my command."

"I'm not so sure."

"Come on, you can have anything."

"Okay it's a deal."

She holds out her hand and I shake it. A flash of light and the deal is done. The old lady starts laughing, laughing mischievously.

"Girl, you should know everything has a price."

"What'd you do?" I ask nervously.

"Just as you asked. Your brother doesn't date Opal anymore, because he's dead." She replies. Tears fill my eyes.

"That's not what I asked for." I say angerly.

"Your brother and Opal were destined to be together, you can't change fate."

"What about the second part of my wish?" I ask.

"Like I said before every wish comes at a price. You can't wish for love, it's against the rules. You are cursed girl. Everyone in your family will die if you can't reverse the curse. To reverse the curse, you must marry a prince by the time of your twenty first birthday."

"That's impossible, how am I exposed to accomplish that?" I ask. The old lady says nothing, when I turn around she's gone. I must save my family. I must reverse the curse.
