Chapter 24

I walked through the door, taking off my shoes and dropping them at the door. The shop was completely quiet and all the lights were off. I sighed and tossed my notebook back on the kitchen table. 

I slipped off my gray jacket, folding it over a chair. I turned around slowly to grab a water from the fridge when I saw a shadow on the wall. I took a quiet step back and stopped my hands from shaking. 

The shadow moved from the wall to the floor, a few feet from my foot. My breathing became heavy and my heart thumped fast. I froze in my place and screamed as the shadow inched closer, "Cole!"

Third Person

"Emma!" Cole shouted, rushing down the halls with his scythe in his hands. He reached the kitchen to see a small, silver dagger laying on the floor. The other ninja joined him at his side and Nya flipped on the nearest light switch. 

Emma was scrunched in the corner, cradling her knees to her chest while rocking back and forth in a calming motion. Cole immeadietly ran over, kneeling down by his sister.

She looked up with tears welling in her eyes, "He was here," she whispered to him. "He was here," she then repeated. Cole glanced back at the others before wrapping his sister in a warm hug, trying to comfort her.

Kai leaned over and picked up the knife, placing it in a cabinet. Jay nudged Alyssa's arm and looked over at her reaction, "You thinking what I'm thinking?" he asked.

"We need to find him, before he takes us too," she responded, a sigh leaving her mouth.
