Alyssa's POV

I grunted as I slammed my fist into the punching bag, spinning on the ball of my foot to roundhouse kick it. "Focus, Alyssa. Keep your eye on the bag," Sensei Garmadon directed, watching my form carefully. "Left foot forward, center your balance," he added, nodding to signal me to move forward.

I lunged forward and unclasped the bo staff from my back, whipping my body around and to swing it at the oncoming ninja. I ducked under his shurikens  and flipped forward, springing off my hands.

"Listen to your surroundings," Sensei Wu told me, sipping tea. I breathed deep and leaned over, catching Lloyd's sight behind me. I jerked up and spun out of the way, my staff clashing against his energy bubble. I gritted my teeth with force as people continued coaching me, "Feel the change behind you, make sure you understand what's going on," Miasko said softly, standing next to Garmadon.

I stood up straight as everyone slowed down, stopping on the sidelines. I closed my eyes and held my head high as a gust of wind motioned to my left. I jerked my left hand out and passed the staff to it, swinging it to my side. I opened my eyes just in time to see Jay approaching me.

I placed both of my hands on the staff and quickly spun it around, whacking Jay's nunchucks off to the side.

"Enough!" Sensei Wu's voice echoed. I leaned over once more and caught my breath, lifting my head to look at Wu. "You are training too hard, Alyssa," he told me, placing his tea cup down on the table.

Emma walked in with Cole and they both leaned against the doorframe. Everyone was suddenly intrigued in what Sensei was motioning to. Emily was off in the city at work but everyone else was here, Nya included.

"What are you talking about, brother?" Garmadon wondered. "Ask for yourself, see what lies within," he replied, nodding lightly. "Alyssa, is there something you are hiding from us?" Misako pondered, searching my eyes.

I turned around and glanced at Kai, before turning the other direction to see my sister. She unfolded her arms and stood up straight. "When you were gone, Emma, when you were all gone, I had a choice to make. And I chose to grow stronger to find you. But you don't know the reason for which I did," I explained.

I caught my sister's eye and looked didn't look away from her, no matter how hard it was. "The man- the one who is after you, he took me too. Before Ridley Clark, I was kidnapped by him. I don't know who it is, I swear. But I know his power! You can't fight him!" I told her.

"You have met the man... who left me in the darkness for a year?" she asked, not understanding.

"Yes... I did. I escaped before Ridley caught me. I was in such a dark place at that time that I never wanted to remember it. So I forgot about it, until I was alone and I had to continue my training, he isn't someone to taunt. He came back to scare you yesterday," I told her, begging for her not to do anything rash.

"Where did he take you when you were kidnapped?" she asked, pulling on her cloak. "Emma, please. Please don't!" I pleaded.

"Where, Alyssa?! I was left there for over a year! I know things that I probably shouldn't and I will not resist the chance to give him a fight he deserves. I need to know what his powers can really do and he needs to see what mine can," she growled, turning around to see her bow and arrows.

She hesitated, finally deciding not to take them and to grab a dagger instead. "You haven't even used your powers yet! We don't know if you still have them!"

"Where... did he take you?" she demanded, stepping dangerously close to me. I finally gave in and sighed, "Wilferd and Flemming, 34th street," I mumbled.

She glanced back at Nya who nodded, both were about to run off when a familiar shadow appeared on the wall, this time behind me. Everyone gasped and took a cautious step back but I froze in my place, clutching my staff tighter.

I swung my staff at the moment I felt a change but it was yanked away from me and my eyes widened. I turned around in fear and noticed the ground around me was a circle encased by shadow.

The shadow moved to my feet and I lifted my foot, still seeing a shadow. I heard a faint evil chuckle and I formed a gust of air in my hand, blasting it at the shadow. I heard a loud scowl and I flipped back, Cole grabbing my arm.

Emma stared at the wall, watching the shadow carefully. All at once, there was a large blast of shadow, aimed at Emma. She screamed and it hit her dead on as she flew back into the wall, falling to the ground. "Emma!" Cole shouted, kneeling at her side.

"Here is your share, Alyssa," the voice cackled, launching a large blast of shadow at me. I hurled into the opposite wall, landing by Sensei Garmadon and Misako.

I groaned and lifted myself up shakily, slowly standing to my feet. "Alyssa!" Cole shouted, turning his head to me but keeping his attention on my weak sister.

I looked down at my hand and noticed it was turning black. My breathing became heavy and I started shaking, shocked at what I was seeing.

"Sensei... what's happening? What's going on?!" I screamed as it began to slowly spread up my arm. "The shadow, it's-it's inside you..." he muttered, shaking his head in disbelief.

"Well how do I stop it?!"

"Brother?" Sensei Garmadon asked, very unsure. "I don't understand, I haven't a clue," he responded.

"Alyssa, what's going on?" Kai asked me, taking a step forward. I shook my hand, trying to make it disappear, but it wouldn't. "How do you get rid of shadow?!" I yelled.

"Light, it's the only way," Nya told me, taking my hand. "But not sunlight, elementally is the only way," she added. "Emily," Jay mumbled. "What about her?" Lloyd asked.

"She's the elemental of light, she can help Alyssa," Zane answered him. I looked at the time and sighed, "She won't be back for six hours, I have to go to her," I told them, grabbing gloves off of the table and hiding my black hand.

"How much time do I have?" I asked Nya, ready to leave the room. "Twenty-four minutes, precisely," she said. "We'll have to be fast!" I called out, running into the halls and making my way to the dragon's pen.
