Chapter Fifteen
"Sorry I was late! Pop tart Thursday." Cecile smiled as she jogged up to Foster at school Thursday morning.
Foster shrugged deeper into his coat due to the chilly weather. "Yeah, I gave up trying to understand you long ago." He rolled his eyes.
It's already Thursday because since Chapter Fourteen Cecile did nothing special. The rest of it was omitted in the final proofread.
Oh? So you want to know what she did since that date? Fine. If you insist then I'll tell you. (And to all of those smart alecks that said no, I'll tell you anyway.)
Pretty much all Cecile did was read 'books' and try to entertain herself at the mall, which is what she usually does. Too boring.
"Haha! No, Foster! It's a tradition me and my dad have every Thursday. He makes me hot pop tarts covered with caramel and marshmallows and we eat them together before he goes to work and I go to school." She smirked with a soft look of content.
Foster gave her a glance before he rubbed at his red nose. He's never seen such a serene look on the spastic girl's face before. It was kind of cute.
"You'll get fat with all of that sugar." He told her. She just gave him a small chuckle and went quiet.
Foster fidgeted. It felt awkward when she was silent. It wasn't like her.
He pulled a gum packet out of his pocket. "Want some?" He asked to break the silence and held out the packet to her.
Her eyes glanced at the flavor before reaching for a stick. "Yeah sure. I've never heard of 'Shockingly Fresh Gum' before." She muttered.
Foster didn't answer. He bit his bottom lip instead. She tried to take a piece of gum that was halfway out of the packet, but it zapped her after a simple tug.
"What?!" She jumped and took her hand away. Foster let out a bellow of a laugh. "Shock gum!" He joked.
She frowned and shook her hand to get rid of the slight sting she still felt. Foster just continued to laugh. "You're horrible! You're mean to an innocent flower like me when people are supposed to be excellent to each other." She said angrily.
Foster laughed even harder at her usual attitude, "'Flower'? More like poison ivy." Foster pocketed the gum again and headed for the gym.
"Wait! Hold up!" Cecile said before she ran in front of Foster.
⚡️
Cecile and Foster sat together for lunch again, but no one looked at them oddly. No one make jokes or snickered while pointing at the odd couple sitting so close together. To be totally honest, no one even cared that much to begin with.
It had become normal by now since the girl's arrival to the school for the two to be seen together.
No one mistook them for a couple despite the constant time they spent together. Why was that? Because they were too incompatible even in the wildest of imaginations.
Also because Foster's obvious dislike for her. How could he date a girl he hated?
Foster could never get Cecile off of his tail even with his best effort. He tried so many times to run away, but she was like a ghost forever to haunt him.
