Chapter Nineteen
Someone grabbed Cecile's arm in the school's hallway. "Oops! Sorry to grab you like that, but you just have beautiful eyes! They're the clearest blue, unlike mine." A freshman commented boldly. "Thanks. I like your eyes though." Cecile blushed as she admired the other girl's fiery brown eyes. She couldn't help a smile yanking at the edges of her mouth at the complement.
The freshman shook her head. "Nah-" "You coming, Cecile? You wanna walk together or not?" Cecile looked to the impatient Foster then to the kind freshman. "I got to go. Thanks so much!" Cecile waved at her then followed Foster.
"That was rude. I was talking to her about my beautiful blue eyes." Cecile blinked repeatedly.
He pushed her away. "I have to get to my club. I'll walk you to the-" "Club? You're in a club without me?" Cecile asked.
"We're not conjoined twins. We don't have to do everything together. Actually, we don't have to anything together, but I'm a nice person so I humor you." He countered.
She nudged his side. "Oh, c'mon. I grew on you. Admit it. But by the nineteenth chapter, it's to be expected." She shrugged.
"Where are you going for your free period?" He tried to change the subject. "I'm going with you to your club."
"No."
"Why?"
"It's... Brown-Eyed Club." "What? That must be a new one. Who's in it?" She asked while she continued to follow him.
Foster ticked off the list in his fingers. "Me, Barry, and Jane." "Barrett and Jane?! You can't even see their eyes!" "I've seen Barry's eyes! They're brown. And I trust Jane." "But-"
Foster spotted the two they were talking about. Speak of the devil and he shall appear. "Jane! Barry! Let's go! Brown-Eyed Club!" Foster yelled when he saw Jane and Barry in the hallway.
"Brown-Eyed Club?" Barry echoed.
Foster ushered Jane and Barry inside an empty classroom and left Cecile in the dust. "Wait-!" She called, but Foster had already shut the door with a loud bang.
"That was a great idea!" Foster panted as he locked the door, "Making up a fake club to get away from Cecile; why didn't I think of that?" He laughed breathlessly.
He leaned heavily against the door as he watched the silent members of the Brown-Eyed Club.
The bear boy and the fluffy haired girl floated silently to the desks and moved them around so that they were facing each other. They pulled out pencils and paper from their book sacks after they sat down.
Foster decided to speak up. "What are you guys-?" "I think it should be at Foster's house." Barry stated. Jane nodded and scribbled what he said onto the paper.
"What's at my house?" Foster blinked and eased away from the door.
Barry looked over at Jane's work. He tried to scratch his head, but he looked at his hand accusingly when it hit against his bear face. He just gave up and let his arm fall on the desk.
"Foster should also distract her so we can get the party set up." Barry's voiced went high with excitement when the plan formed together in his mind.
"What's going on?" Foster slapped his hands on their desks. Barry and Jane's heads swiveled like owls to look at Foster.
Barry threw a glance Jane's way before they darted back to Foster's. "Uh, Cecile's birthday party. We had to tell you a lie so you would help." Rage caught fire in Foster's belly.
