Chris' POV

Eva laid in the backseat of my car as I rushed to the hospital as fast as I could. I had managed to get there faster than expected and as I pulled her out and carried her limp body inside, nurses rushed over with a gurney.

"I don't know what happened. My girlfriend called me and said she hit her head before she blacked out." I exclaim as nurses ask me what happened precisely. Nurses gave me sympathetic looks as I began to cry silently, wondering what that monster did to her. I sat patiently in the desolate waiting room and the nurses walked over to me with a few items that were within her pocket that the doctors gave me.

Her phone was the main thing that sat in my hand and I wondered if she would mind me calling her mom or someone to be with her. I pressed the home screen and a beautiful pink background with the words "Stay Positive." are written in a navy blue cursive. I smile at the lovely words and wondered how many times that she has had to tell herself that just to get by. I slide open the phone easily and see that she doesn't have a passcode as I see her apps pop up. I go through her contacts and scroll down to find her mother's name with a big red heart emoji next to it. I debate whether or not to call her to tell her the situation of her daughter's case before my thumb accidentally hits her name by fate's choice. A few rings go by before she picks up.

"Hi darling. It's nice to hear from you." She says sweetly over the phone and my voice cracks as I speak up.

"Um..hi. I'm calling you to say that Eva is in the hospital. I'm her boyfriend and the doctor's have her in the back but.." I am soon cut off by her mother's frantic voice.

" My baby is hurt? I'm on my way to the airport. I'm currently in Denmark for work but I'm getting on the next plane to come home. Thank you for calling me sweetheart. Please keep her phone to keep me updated on her." She says while I hear her sniffling. I hated to break the news but Eva needed family with her and I knew the situation with her parents so the only person I personally knew who she might appreciate would be her mom.

...

"Sir?" I heard a muscular voice speak towards me, making me jump in sudden shock. As I looked up, he began to make his way over to me. I shot out of the uncomfortable chair that I had been sitting in for nearly four hours now, the fifth hour rounding closer but now time was frozen in this moment that would reveal life or death.

"How is she?" I say while staring at him with tears ready to burst out. He gave me a weak smile before speaking up.

"Your girlfriend had a breakage within the skull. By the time that you had brought her in, she was on the verge of death because her body had lost so much blood but luckily we had a blood donor come in hand and she is stable now. We stapled the breakage and made sure that no blood will be escaping. May I ask what she was doing before the incident?" He says nervously, questioning myself and the whole situation.

"I don't know. She was at our apartment by herself while I was on my way home from a meeting I had to go to but when she called she said some man had broken in." I say while thinking of what Jonas could've done to her to break her skull open that easily.

"I think you should get the authorities involved, if you want you can contact them here to be safe. If you want, you can see her and discuss with her exactly what happened so she can get her story straight and you can tell the police the accurate story." I nod before he leads me over to her room. She lays down and a white bandage is wrapped around her head to keep the staples safe from anything wanting to harm them and her.

I sat down at a chair before grabbing her warm hand and clutching it in mine as I place it near my heart. The doctor leaves and says he will come back in a little while and I take the initiative to text her mom.

To: Momma♥️
Hi, it's Chris. I am in the room with her and she is stable. She's doing good.

I send the quick message as a nurse comes in to offer me a trip to the cafeteria so I can get Eva and I food. I thank her for her kind actions and tell her that I am fine for now and once she leaves, I keep my eyes on Eva, afraid that someone or something would hurt my princess once more.

...

"Chris?" A soft voice speaks up. I turn to look at the doorway where a short lady wearing heels stands, she wear a pair of slacks and a nice shirt meaning that she was in the middle of business when I had interrupted her with the horrific news.

"Hi." I say while standing up to offer her the chair. She pulls me in for a hug and the comforting feeling makes me feel sympathetic for her. She sits down in the chair and grabs Eva's hand that I had been holding for three hours now, watching over her like her guardian angel.

"What did the doctors say?" She asked and I explained everything to her before she began to cry. The tears streaming out of her eyes crashed against Eva's hand before Eva stirred in her sleep. She groaned from the pain and I rushed to her side immediately. Her eyes fluttered open slowly and she spoke with a raspy voice.

"Chris?" She said and I watched as a smile spread across her face. I leaned down and placed a simple kiss to her forehead before her mom spoke up.

"Hi sweetheart." She said and the tears began to stream harder. Eva sat up slowly and hugged her mom tightly, indicating to me that I had made the right move by calling her. I watched them interact before Eva's mom left us alone when she said that she was going to get us all some water to stay hydrated. I offered to go but she insisted that I stay to watch over her.

"Thank you for calling her and bringing me here." She says while patting the empty spot next to her.

"Of course." I say while obliging her actions. She maneuvered herself so she could lay on her side and still be in my arms as I held her. Tears began to stream out as I stared at her and realized the deadliness of the whole situation and I thought about how lucky I am to have her alive and in my arms. She wiped away my tears before placing a loving kiss to my lips and speaking up.

"Don't cry Chris. I'm okay. I'm here with you and I wouldn't have it any other way." She said positively with a bright smile on her face.
