Chris' POV

Ingrid and Eva were both currently taking naps upstairs within their rooms which left me to my solitude. I didn't know what to do since William and Noora were busy which meant that I had time to myself which rarely ever happened. I decided to go for a drive and thought about how maybe on the way home I should stop by the supermarket for flowers and other things so I could make the girls dinner. Two days left until the trial which brought a sense of worriedness throughout my body even though I knew that we would win. I grabbed my keys and sat in my car silently before shoving the key in the engine and letting the radio play.

I eventually reversed, no destination in mind, and made my way towards the major road. It was surprisingly busy compared to how it usually was on Tuesday afternoon as I merged safely. The road I drove was long and just what I had wanted to clear my mind. I drove through town and eventually got to the city. Tall buildings crowded the streets and eventually I saw a few small shops that caught my eye. I parked the car on the easiest spot I could find within the crowded city before getting out and going into the stores. They were simple clothing stores that had nice clothes draping from the mannequins. I tried on a few items from and bought a pair of jeans and a shirt before hitting the pavement to move on to the next few stores. I passed people by while looking at the stores before finally coming across a restaurant that looked busy.

I stared at the menu that was taped to the windows and saw a variety of food before walking in and standing in a long line. People walked past with to-go orders and eventually I was up front while making my choice. I ordered a simple green salad as it was called and a cup of baked potato soup before sitting down, awaiting my order to be ready. They soon brought it over to me and I thanked them while answering my vibrating phone.

"Hey babe." Eva spoke gingerly into the phone while yawning. I smiled while imagined her stretching her arms and legs as wide as they could while making some uncomforting noise that resembled a whale.

"How was your nap?" I asked her and she made that same noise I was just fantasizing about which made laugh out loud. I looked around to see if people had caught me laughing to myself before realizing that everyone was paying attention to themselves.

"Where are you? It sounds busy." She states before I look around to see people constantly walking through the door. I nod my head even though I know Eva can't see me, still looking around at the place I ate in. The walls were decorated beautifully with quotes and black and white photos which captivated my eyes. The conversation with Eva didn't last long and I told her that I would be home within an hour or two just so I could have some alone time. She told me to take all the time I needed and wanted and I wondered to myself how long I would actually take as I devoured my food. I groaned in pleasure with eat bite of the fresh salad and the warm soup before finally making my way out of the restaurant and onto the next few stores.

...

I walked with a few bags hanging from my hands as I made my way towards the car. I bought a few new shirts and pairs of jeans for myself and was currently exhausted from being on my feet. All I wanted to do was go home and be with Eva and Ingrid to watch over them and protect them. As I walked the blocks that gained closer to the car, I watched as people stalked by slower. The sun was growing lower within the sky and the nightlife was slowly taken over the city. I finally got to my cars as a group of guys passed by while they stared at desirable looking girls that passed them.

I got in my car and made my way back towards the house but made sure to drop by the market so I could pick up some things for dinner tonight. The house was stocked up with snack food and leftovers but I wanted to keep the girls relaxed so I decided just to pick up a bunch of nice treats for dinner tonight. I had planned on making a nice italian dish that my mother loved making for me as a child and I knew the recipe by heart. I drove a small drive towards a market that was a little off course towards the house but they had all of the ingredients I didn't. I stopped once seeing the sign for it on the side of the road and parked in the nearest spot I could. Walking into the familiar mart made my heart ache at the thought of my family who was gone.
