Chris' POV

I came back into the room with a glass of water for Iben and I. As I did, she sets my phone down on her lap. A look of confusion with a hint of anger is on her face before she speaks up.

"Who's Eva?" She asks while playing with my phone in her hands, ready to launch it towards the wall if I answer wrong.

"She's a friend of mine. Why are you wondering?" I say while setting the glass on my nightstand.

"She just called. Sounded like she was crying." She says while still being pissed.

"She's been having some troubles with her boyfriend so I was just helping her with it." I say which I know touches Iben's soft heart.

"Oh." She says and I can tell that she feels sympathetic for Eva all of the sudden. She cuddles back into me as I lay down on the bed and suddenly I regret leaving my phone in the room with Iben. There had to have been a reason that she was calling and I wasn't there for Eva just as I promised.

...

"Let me know if there is anything I can do to help with that girl Eva." Iben says softly as she leaves to go back to her place. I close the door once I see her round the corner of the street and I immediately grab my phone to call Eva back from earlier today.

The first time I call she doesn't answer, but the second time I do, she does which makes me happy to think that maybe she just wasn't near her phone.

"Chris?" She says with a groggy tone unlike any other than I've heard before.

"Did I wake you?" I say wondering if she was just asleep or if she was slowly falling into one.

"Chris I need you." She says with one final breath. I nod my head and speak up as I hear her go quiet.

"I'm on my way Eva. What's wrong?" I say while grabbing my keys to get into the car. She sounds vulnerable and I don't feel comfortable with hanging up the phone and leaving her alone for the 25 minutes it takes me to get to her house.

"Chris I don't feel good." She claimed and suddenly my drive has turned into a 10 minute one. I knocked on the front door as loud as I could and yet no response from the inside. The line had gone dead and my heart began to race. I rushed to her bedroom window and looked inside to find a dark room with slim to none light.

The window was only available to open from the inside so I grabbed a near by rock to smash the window. I hopped into the dark room and I saw her laying on the corner of the bed as if she were lifeless. I rush over to her and once I reach her, I roll her over so she can face me.

A stream of blood rushes from her nose and I carry her to the bathroom. I grab a nearby towel and run some water over it before wringing out the excess on her face to wake her up. She flinches at the touch of the warm water and I wipe the blood that has dried on her face before she speaks up.

"Chris?" She says with a surprised tone. I nod and she embraces me as if we hadn't seen each other in years.

"I'm sorry I wasn't here for you." I say and she speaks up about Iben.

"What about your girlfriend? I don't want to ruin you two." She says with utter depression. I reach out for her and once my skin touches her cheek, a cold shiver runs throughout my body.

"Don't worry about her. What's wrong? What happened?" I say and she tells me about everything with Jonas that has happened for the past few hours I've been gone.

...

She lays down on her bed and I watch her fall asleep while I rub her back gently as if she were a baby. Once I see that she's out for good, I take the liberty of looking around her room for information about this somewhat mysterious girl.

I see pictures of her friends and her as well as a few other of who I'm guessing are family. A book shelf of classics that I've possibly read once or more in my lifetime and then I go over to her vanity. She has drawers filled with makeup and I wonder who would ever destroy her beautiful nature and make her think that she needs all of this. Then I remember that her boyfriend is the spawn of the devil himself as I walk over to her nightstand. I see her laptop sit open and a capped bottle of unknown medication in it.

I look at the label and read that it is a sleeping medication. I know the brand myself and I know that this is deadly in certain situations and I wonder about how long Eva has been taking these. The company recalled all of them a couple of years ago because supposedly they made people go psychotic over a long period of time.

I look at her and wonder if she had taken any before I got over to her place and how many she could've possibly taken. I place the bottle exactly where it was and as I do, I get a text from William.

From: William
Hey Chris, Noora is wondering if you wanna go out on a double date with her and I. She was hoping you would take Eva over Iben.

I smile at the thought of going out with Eva and it makes me laugh on how Noora prefers my lover over my own girlfriend.
