Third Person POV (17 years ago)

"Stan? Is that you?" The woman spoke through the phone in a rushed tone.

"Yes, yes it's me. Why are you calling so late?"

"I know it's a lot to ask, but I just don't think Mabel and Mason will fit in here. You've seen how different they are. I feel they'd be better off with you.." she trailed off chocking on her tears.

"What are you saying?" His gruff voice spoke into the phone.

"Would you.. would you be willing to raise them for me?" She asked her voice cracking.

"I.. I don't know.. uh fine. I'll do it."

"Thank you! Thank you, Stan! I know they will love you. I just know it. I'd do anything to give them the life they deserve."

"I'll pick them up tomorrow," Stan said before hanging up the phone.

He sighed as he stood in the living room. He'd better prepare for the children. He knew they would fit in. After all this town has more mysteries than you can count.

(Early the next morning)

"Uh.. it's too early," Stan said looking around the neighborhood nervously.

If anyone were to see him they would call the cops or worse. He knocked on the door again. On the other side he could hear shuffling until the door slid open.

The woman's eyes were red and puffy. In her arms she held a little Cervitaur, Mason, and in the other a bowl with a small mermaid in it, Mabel.

Stan almost smiled were it not for the depressing situation. He watched as she kissed each of there sleeping heads.

"When I was pregnant I already knew they had carried the gene. That was why I refused to go to every ultrasound. I couldn't risk their safety. You'll tell them we love them right?" She asked as her husband hugged her from behind.

"Of course. What's with his birthmark?" Stan asked looking towards the Cervitaur.

"It's very unique isn't it? It looks a lot like the Little Dipper. We even call him Dipper sometimes."

"Dipper, huh? And Mabel. You two will fit in perfectly."

Stan lifted his wings, and looked around again making sure no one was watching. The children's mother whispered a 'thankyou' before Stan flew into the sky, little Cervitaur and mermaid in hand.
