Dipper's POV

I had no idea where Bill was going with this. I didn't even know why he kept on trying. Even after I denied him several times, he only tried harder.

I looked into his yellow eye and for a small second I could see someone different. Someone who wasn't hellbent on chaos. And in that second I was weakened.

His kiss was still lingering on my lips. I wanted to feel his lips again. They were cold like ice, and probably like his heart, but I could not resist. Placing my lips on his I felt him smile into the kiss.

I would have kicked him where it really hurts, were it not I was pinned down to the ground, him on top of me.

He smiled deviously, still looking into my eyes. I watched as he stood up and pulled me up with him.

"I think that's enough excitement for one night. Good night Pinetree!" Bill cooed retreating into the house.

Bill left me standing outside in the cold. This time I was the one left behind wondering what the hell just happened.

Kicking the snow below me, I realized I had returned to my Cervitaur form. Walking indoors I settled on the couch and closed my eyes. The crackling of the fire slowly lulled me to sleep.

When I woke up the clock on the wall read 10:34. I must have slept in. Rising from the couch I went to look for Bill, but he was nowhere to be found. The kitchen was empty, as was his bedroom and bathroom.

Returning to the living room I saw a small yellow note that hadn't caught my eye before. Pealing it off the coffee table I read it carefully.

Dear Pinetree,

I went into town on some business this morning. Feel free to do whatever you like wherever you like. See you this afternoon!

I reread the note several times. He was actually trusting me to do whatever I wanted? He must be in a fantastic mood.

I'd go to the Mystery Shack. I hadn't been there in a few weeks. It would only be a visit, and I'd make sure they understood that.

On my way over I ran into the gnomes. They insisted I tell Mabel to become their bride. I refused and ran off into the forest.

It didn't take me long to arrive at the Mystery shack. Mabel was singing in her small pond and Wendy was next to her letting her paws soak.

Wendy noticed me first, and I waved awkwardly. I could tell she was angry, but more relieved to see me alive. She ran over and hugged me tightly. Something I would have fawned over months ago. But now I had someone new on my mind.

"Dipper!" Mabel called out.

She jumped from the water happily. I attempted to wrap my arms around her, but she slapped me in the face leaving a bright red mark.

"What was that for?!"

"That was for leaving me! All I wanted was for you to stay!"

"Mabel I tried to tell you. I can't. I still can't. I made I deal with Bill in return for your safety. It was for all of you."
