Dipper's POV

It had been another month since Bill sprung the 'become immortal and live with me forever' thing on me. My 18th birthday was nearly here. It would be the first birthday I would be celebrating without Mabel. We had celebrated together ever since we were babies.

Ever since that night when Bill saved my life he'd been distant during the day and when he'd come home he would be all over me. I almost feel like he's hiding something from me.

"Pine Tree?" Bill said walking into his bedroom.

"Huh?"

I looked up from my book to see Bill wearing a new coat. It was still yellow but a newer style. Much more modern.

"Hey Bill!" I chirped happy to see him.

"Where have you been?" I asked not allowing him to return a hello.

"Oh you know... around," Bill shook his hands in the air, and walked over to sit beside me.

His face was strange. It was an emotion I've never really seen him wear. It was contemplation. I could tell he was thinking very hard about something. Usually he just acts on impulse. But something must have really been bugging him this time.

"So anything planned for the next few days?" I asked breaking the silence.

"No. Why?"

Bill looked up from the floor and into my eyes. A huge smile rose onto his cheeks and he let out a small squeal.

"Ohohoho, is it someone's birthday in three days?" Bill grinned deviously.

I nodded awkwardly. He had read my thoughts, again. Of course by now I was accustomed to such a thing.

"We should have a party!" He said as-a-matter-of-factly.

"Um no. That would be an awful idea."

"But why?" He whined, grin turning upside down. Now that was a new look.

"One: Everyone still thinks I'm being held here against my will. Two: Gruncle Ford probably turned everyone at home against me. And three: parties really aren't my thing."

"Oh," he sighed, "I guess you're right."

"But you and I can hang out together!" I said trying to brighten the depressing mood I'd created.

"You should hang out with your sister. She probably misses you terribly. Besides I have a few things I need to take care of in the morning."

"Oh ok. But you're probably right. It will give me a chance to say goodbye to Mabel as a mortal."

"Mortal?" Bill questioned.

"Yeah... remember we agreed you would make me immortal on my 18th birthday?"

Bill's eyes widened slightly like he'd actually forgotten the promise he made me.

"Haha right. I remember that. Well until then Pine Tree." Bill rushed out of his bedroom to lord knows where.

He was hiding something. And it had to do with me becoming immortal. What if he doesn't love me anymore?
